ASUS to Enter Tablet PC Market

ASUS set to deliver R1F widescreen tablet
One can't fault ASUS for not entering the Tablet PC market earlier. Microsoft's Tablet PC platform hasn’t exactly been lighting up the sales charts with consumers or businesses. Perhaps ASUS knows something that we don't or it’s just tired of sitting on the sidelines, but the company’s new R1F Tablet PC FCC application has just been published.

The FCC filing for ASUS R1F is complete with pictures, instruction manual and specifications. The widescreen tablet features Core Duo processors, 802.11a/b/g wireless, GbE, Bluetooth, biometric security, slot-load DVD burner, ExpressCard slot, 3-in-1 media reader, three USB 2.0 ports, SPDIF out, TV-out and VGA out. The tablet also features a modular bay to accept a second battery pack instead of the optical drive.

The panel of the RF1 rotates around so that the RF1 can be used in a notebook or tablet style.

It should be interesting at what price point the R1F comes in at. ASUS notebooks have traditionally been a bit on the pricey side (I know from experience), but their build quality is usually beyond reproach. We’ll keep you informed as more information rolls in.

Great, but that thing would be really expensive atleast much exp then other models like HP, Fujistu. Asus tend to overprice there notebooks in India.
