Asus To Unveil Intel Atom Powered Fonepad At MWC

Asus was expected to unveil Intel based tablet during CES 2013, but it was not part of the show. Now it is being rumored that the tablet might show up at the upcoming Mobile World Congress at Barcelona.



The tablet codenamed Asus ME371MG is expected to be called Asus Fonepad, according to POSTEL database. The tablet has also been discovered in the database of an online retailer priced at 7900 Thai baht which is approximately $265 and will come in two variants.



The rumored specs of the tablet include 7 inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution, Intel Atom Z2420 processor clocked at 1.2GHz and 1GB of RAM and 16GB storage. Connectivity side is expected to have 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS. It should be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Asus has also announced a lower model tablet at CES called MeMO Pad which is powered by VIA SoC, it will cost $149.
