Asus PadFone 2 which recently made an appearance in leaked pics on twitter is finally official. The PadFone 2 can be bought either standalone or with the PadFone Station.
The PadFone 2 is the second version of Asus's unique concept PadFone, a smartphone which can be docked into a station making it a tablet. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS .
The PadFone like its previous model, packs impressive features including a 4.7inch 720p Super IPS+ display with Gorilla Glass , 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. It comes in three models with capacities 16GB , 32GB and 64GB .
It has 13MP camera with f/2.4 BSI sensor from Sony, it can capture without shutter lag, and has burst mode as well which can capture 6 shots per second . It can record 1080p video at 30fps or 720p video at 60fps . There is front facing 1.2MP camera as well. Connectivity features include LTE, 3G, NFC , Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 host .
The battery of PadFone 2 carries 2140mAh capacity which is claimed to provide 16hours 3G talk-time and 13 hours of web browsing The PadFone station has its own 5000mAh battery which can charge the PadFone three times and is claimed to give up to 36 hours 3G talk-time . The PadFone 2 weighs a total of 649g which makes it lighter than original PadFone which weighed at 854g.
Engadget reported that Jonney Shih announced in Milan that for Europe, the PadFone 2 tablet bundle will be priced at €799 ($1,040) for the 32GB model, and €899 ($1,170) for the 64GB model.
The PadFone 2 will be launched in India before December. The pricing in India is not yet known but looking at the Rs 65k price tag Asus launched original PadFone recently, it is likely to be more than that .
