guys today i got the Asus WL-520GU wireless router....and i cannot access internet at all...:S
first of all im a total no0b when it comes to routers and networking :ashamed:
i have airtel broadband connection and the modem is in pppoe mode with the username and pass in the modem, heres wat i did

1. plugged in the wire from modem to the WAN port of the router
2. connected the pc to LAN1 port on the router
3. turned on pc and went to 192.168.1.1 to configure
4. clicked on the "Internet Status" and then clicked "go" on the bottom right panel
5. selected "Dynamic IP" and basically kept on clicking next :ashamed: and i didnt enter any host name but i clicked on the MAC clone button.
6. finally apply all and then went to google.com, and it said that local ip of the host is same as the gateway (as i remember)...and bottom a link to change the local ip of the router.
7. followed the link and changed the local ip of the router to 192.168.1.2, and still didnt work..

i finally played around with lots of stuff here and there but still couldnt get it to work :(

guys plz help...:)

change the local ip of your router to a different domain. like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1. as of now there is a conflict between the dhcp of the modem and router. both are fighting for the same address. just put them on two addresses and your good to go

AIRTEL MODEM >>>>>>>> ASUS 520GU >>>>>> DESKTOP / LAPTOP

192.168.1.1 ----------IP obtained dynamically

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Local IP 192.168.0.1 ------ 192.168.0.2 onwards thru DHCP

thanx :)...i changed the local ip of the router to 192.168.2.1 and so i can access the modem's page using 192.168.1.1 and the router's at 192.168.2.1

the good news is i can see the connection to internet open up in the control panel...but the bad news is i still cant access the internet...:(
ooh btw in log i can see the router updated its time thru time.nist.com :P

any ideas??..:)...ill post some screenshots of the router's firmware after i come back frm college :)

Connect router to Asus on the LAN port instead of WAN port.

Connect PC to Asus on the LAN port.

Router = 192.168.1.1

Asus = 192.168.1.11 - make this change

PC = DHCP/ Static as you like. Gateway as 192.168.1.1, it will work fine with no issues.

Hi Guys, I have a similar setup. I am using MTNL tri band with MTNL's ADSL wireless modem and Asus Wl520gu wireless router. Following are the setting:

MTNL's Wireless ADSL = 192.168.1.1

Asus WL 520GU = 192.168.1.11

Both the routers are connected through LAN port and i able to access internet from any of the two through wireless but when try to use internet on my pc through wired connection from Asus router i get a connection error stating "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and if i try this with MTNL's wireless modem i am able to use internet. Can you tell me what's going wrong?
