I bought this laptop 4 days back from flipkart , the flipkart description says it has two ram slots http://www.flipkart....tmd4bw9nfczv3pk but i can see only one ram slot when i opened it , another user here also had this same issue & asus told him this model had only one ram slot http://www.thinkdigi...-ram-query.html .

Now should i ask for a refund / different model from flipkart as they have have given incorrect description? Any one using this model? Is there another hidden slot some where which i cant see?

Speccy & cpuz show that it has two ram slots but even if it has another slot it will be impossible to use it.

Update :

Flipkart reading this thread they have now changed the product description to only one Ram slot .

You could have checked in the manufacturer website rather than relying on the vendor site or put up a query to SX136D TE owners!

http://www.asus.com/...#specifications

But even they have listed USB 3.0 in description and 2x USB 2.0 in specs.

Yeah it has only 1 RAM slot which means a max. 4GB RAM only. But hey it also has USB 3.0 and HDMI for 20k which is not available on other 20k laptops. So its still decent buy.

Also the one in India has a 6-cell 56Whr battery which is pretty impressive! Also flipkart doesn't list HDMI whereas it does have have HDMI.

4GB ought to be enough for Windows 8. So it shouldn't affect that laptops performance for a few years.

I checked Asus website before buying but could not find this exact model & why would i ask TE SX136D owners when i never had any doubt at the time of buying that this model had two Ram slots? Every laptop i checked before buying had two slots so i never thought this would have only one slot & that flipkart info will be incorrect, i was about to buy another stick of ram for this today but luckily saw that thread on thinkdigit today & then checked & found out it had only one slot. I wanted to use 2x 2gb in dual channel , now if i get a 4gb stick , i will have no use for the 2 gb stick & cant run it in dual channel & cant upgrade to 8gb if needed in future. Dont care about hdmi , I will probably never use the hdmi or usb3 ports on this laptop .

^ Yup that's a -ve that the SX136D owners have to live with. But I don't think 8GB would be necessary anytime soon.

You can always sell off the spare stick for about Rs.400 or so considering the ones with manufacturer warranty sells for Rs.650. The gain you get from dual channel is also negligible.

Flipkart are giving me a 4gb Ram module as compensation , wanted to avoid any refund / replacement related issues so accepted the Ram.

are u sure that there is one RAM slot ... i got one yesterday and as per speccy and cpu z .. there are 2 ram slots ?

^^

It also says 2xUSB2.0 when in fact it is one 2.0 and one 3.0.

I guess you can only verify this after opening one up.

Well that sucks, I too was thinking of 2x2Gb in the near future, guess I'll just have to do with 4Gb then. Wouldn't 8Gb be overkill anyways considering the rest of the system would bottleneck it?

2*2GB Vs single 4GB is not a big deal for most users out there. And system never bottlenecks RAM. The CPU is powerful enough to use that all, but why do you need 8GB? 4GB is more than enough for most apps. Instead opt for an SSD, you won't return back.

I took the Ram , i had no other choice , I had made the payment through flipkart wallet so even if they would have refunded the money it would have gone back in to the wallet & i would have had to purchase another laptop from them & there was no suitable replacement in stock at flipkart .

it was actually a good deal. 4GB ram will make operations smoother trust me. Even while browsing for a while, it shows it's prowess over 2GB RAM on Win Vista/7

Didn't want to create a seperate topic, What 4gb RAM should I go for?

In terms of compatibility, will ddr3 1333 be compatible out of the box or will I need to OC because I don't see any oc options in the bios.

My ram timings are 9-9-9-24.
