asus xonar DX or creative xfi game

i want a best soundcard for gaming as well as music.. No matter abt the performance in movies as i rarely watch movies on PC...
suggest me a good soundcard .. m considering xonar dx as the best but let me know if someother card beats it ...... my budget < 5k
 
There are many other cards that beat it, but not in the sub 5K range. Its king of the hill south of the 5K mark. Go for it.

Which OS are you using? Hardware accelerated audio as we knew it went out the door with Vista, negating all of the EAX extensions Creative worked so hard to produce.

err.. Creative ALchemy, OpenAL??

But I do agree, EAX is dead. No use buying a soundcard for "gaming", better save that money for core components.

eax works perfectly in windows vista & 7 on my pc

just add the eax supported game in alchemy instead of selecting eax in-game & your good :)
