Guys!!!finally my dreams of owning a note came true (ya i know the at&t i717 is not in the same league as the N7000!) got a bargain deal now the problems!(ya there is always a catch!!)
the guy told me that it is a developer device and hence the usb mass storage and sd card support is disabled though that could be fixed by some reserach.
so any pointers to Odin firmware flashers? have successfully flashed with Odin stock ICS leak as well as stock gingerbread. but the SD card/mass storage still dont work. though the nag screens are not there, but still, camera, spen, gallery, swype etc dont work. in one word the phone is severely crippled expensive paper weight!!!!

any help guys would be gr8!!!
thanx in advance
p.s.-in the physical aspects the phone is superb 9/10 but the whole point of buyng the note has been defeated.the folders on the sd card when mounted shows up, but for a fraction of a second and the mass storage asks formatting /unsupported file format consistantly!!do i need a separate thread for this???

Even on developer phone, they would not restrict such crucial functionality as it defeats the purpose of developer phone.
It is most probably early partially working engineering sample model or a show piece AT&T uses which might have some critical defects thanks to bad handling. I saw this Abhishek guy put questions regarding this phone on XDA few days ago and you then bought this from him. There he posted pics. You can see the sticker like thing below the camera where Galaxy Note logo should be there. That is usually there on demo phones and early samples where tether lock is attached so people dont steal it from demo locations or to hide the phone's identity as its not ready for public release yet.
I doubt you will be able to do much with the phone. It will be extremely difficult to repair it locally if something on the motherboard is fried or simply non functional.
If ODIN flash didnt solve your issue, no software fix will as ODIN flash of official firmware puts your phone into factory condition.
If you are feeling brave enough go here :Disassembly of Samsung Galaxy Note Cell Phone - YouTube and disassemble your phone and see if there are any changes in your phone (at PCB level) than what you see in the video.
Can you access the SD card through the phone file manager? If not that is the case of bad NAND storage which has only 1 fix and that is to replace the motherboard (as replacing just nand chip is usually not something even service centre guys do as its machine soldered).
But then there are lots of other things wrong with the phone.
I hope you did not spend too much money on this. Its not even worth 5k with these many issues.
Your only hope is to try and send this phone back to US for paid repairs as its clearly not retail phone. And even then AT&T wont touch it. You have to try 3rd party repairs. And even then it wont be cheap neither are repairs guaranteed.

You can try and take the phone to a repair shop locally to see if they can do anything, but I doubt it will help.

thanx for the quick reply shripad!hmmm i guess i got myself in a soup then¡oops! as you said the phone has severe limitations but otherwise physically i dont see any handling issues.its exactly like a brand new piece.i can use al the other phone features just fine.calling, messahing web browsing etc.anything except sd card and on board memory..i brought it ar about three times at what you quoted,!oh what a mess.

Ok guys i finally succeeded in rooting the phone and a few things make me feel this is a software issue. though still i cant use the internal storage and the sd card
-after installation of busy box in the Busybox window it shows"Free space in /system 327680mb" i mean like if it is 32gb shouldnt it read like 32768mb?
(installation fails though-says "failure!there is either not enough space on your SDcard or your SDcard is not mounted!"
-when i boot into recovery i cant mount or format the emmc. I get the error"Error mounting / emmc!"
-amazingly i can in recovery i can install and browse the SD card (thats how i flashed the Saurom Rom)

Hence i think emmc not mounted is preventing the use of both the onboard storage and the SD card. If only i could get a way to format the emmc i think the problems would be solved. Is the size of the emmc corrupted result in these issues? Is it possible to disable the emmc? or is there a way to format the emmc using Odin?(since CWM fails to do so)

any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanx in advance.

MobileODIN has an option to format/wipe EMMC or SD card. Check if that comes to any help for you.

EDIT: I misunderstood formatting with wipe which are too different things. But i've seen Heimdall (another like of Odin) capable of doing the same. Used it on my broken captivate once, but i am not too sure if it works with your Note.

hi thanx for the quick reply. but i think Heimadall is for Macs (iOS) and i dont have access to one, if it could be done in windows that would be awesome and maybe the solution to my problem!
