CPU/Mobo athlon II x3/x4

Athlon II x3 435 is way to go.

It can be unlocked to PII x4 955 ,if not then PII x3 720 at least . Its much better considering it will give an overall boost of 20% in performance

Many ppl are saying the new batch of x3 435 has L3 cache physically removed unlike the previous batch which had L3 cache disabled.

What if it doesn't unlock ? Waste of $$.

It will work but with new Bios of new MSI mobos .

It can unlock to quad core with L3 , quad without L3 , Tri core with L3.

But it will unlock either its core , or L3 cache or even both.

@neojjjk

it depends on the SB. SB 710 and SB 750 mobos can unlock, but unfortunately, there is hardly any SB710/750 for 780G mobos.

most 785G mobos has SB 710, and 790GX/X/FX has SB 750.

ASUS M4A78-EM-1394 comes with AMD 780G+ SB 710.

There are some rare mobos from different vendors. But they come at prices comparable to 785G mobos.
Manufacturers have the choice of putting different SB with diff chipsets. Its very recent they have started to make such combinations. Maybe after this 'unlocking' scenario.

True, its very recent that after 'unlocking' scenario vendor released new BIOS and some 780+SB 710 MB like ASUS M4A78-EM.

And what about 550 BE ? New batch can't be unlocked right ?

I don't think unlocking is of any use as it will be unstable and create problems while doing things :p

Both the point are nonsense :p

1. Chances of unlocking Porpus/rana based CPU to Deneb based are very rare. There were few Deneb based offering which were released before not anymore.

Phenom II Series -> Harvested from Deneb Die

Athlon II X4X3 -> Harvested from Porpus DIe

Athlon II X2 /Sempron 14X -> Harvested from Regor Die.

All the three die are different from each other. AMD did produced some AII from PII die but not anymore.

2. Unlocking is 100% stable though it depends on combo you use but still there are no repercussions or regression.

3. All the Phenom are extracted from single chip of X4 so as far as X2 is harvested from X4 nomatter what batch chances of unlocking is there, ofcourse a good mb is needed nonetheless :)

Hope that clears the problem.

Very true. One of my friend got an unheard batch of 550, and wasnt able to unlock. After trying many many combinations of ACC vales for each cores, finally he made it to X4 B50. And now ocing like hell:eek:hyeah:
he used values like say, -12,10,+12,-12 or somethin like that. Anyway, it was a lesson that even the worst batches still has some chance if it cudnt do in ACC auto mode.

is there any possibility for me to unlock cache/core ?

You mean the config in your siggy? no yaar.

It has to be a deneb core, and you need to have a mobo with SB 710, or 750. If both requirements satisfied, then there is still chance even if the pioccy batch number isnt good, and ACC auto mode isnt working any magic on cores.
