Hi all.....I cant decide between Athlon II X4 630 or phenom x4 925.

I am looking for 4 core so do not suggest 2 cores.

Will use it for regular stuffs like HD movies, Games, Downloading, etc.

Please suggest motherboards(with price) for both and a GPU (Rs. 7000 approx)

Thanks in advance

phenom x4 925 is much better, given the L3 among other things.

Also i would recommend you wait for the AMD x6's to come hopefully a 1035T will come closer to your price range but even if it does not it will give a decrease in price for the 925/630..

Phenom II x4 925, if that is what you mean... Dunno if you want to use DDR2 or DDR3 so can't suggest a board...

GPU, go for the Radeon 4850/5670 (below 7,000).. 4850 has better performance than 5670 but 5670 is Direct X 11 compliant and has a couple of new features...

X4 925 is definitely a better and faster processor. but again, if your gaming is just casual and you don't do any AV editing, then there is no use in shelling out extra money for X4 925.

Planning for DDR 3 - motherboard?

How much will L3 in phenom help vis a athlon in gaming/photoshop/viewing HD movies ?

Is the price difference worth it?

Will the phenom be more future proof than a athlon?

Why not get a Phenom II 555 BE at the same price as Athlon II X4 630 ? Most of them can be unlocked on any decent 790GX or 785G motherboards. You get 4 cores and extra cache to boot. When unlocked the Phenom II 555 BE will perform better than a X4 925 because it is clocked at 3.1 Ghz at stock. Get a decent cooler though as the stock cooler wont be very effective in handling excess heat.

^^ IMO It's one of these:-

Athlon II X4 630

or

Phenom II X2 555 B.E.

It's almost pakka you'll get a FULL l3 cache enabled Phenom II X4 from the 555 B.E., but somewhere there's a chance of about 5% you won't.

Aah, then grab the X4 925, it costs around 7.1k

IMO the best deal is the

Phenom II X4 955 B.E. 3.2GHz ~~~~ 7.8k

This one is a very good VFM processor.

12k for both mobo n chip.

what gpu will be good for it. Max 6-7k.

CPU:- Phenom II X4 955 B.E. 3.2GHz ~8k
Motherboard:- Gigabyte MA785G USB3 ~6k

GPU: HD 5670 ~5k
2k saved from GPU budget gets added to your CPU budget, bumping it up to 8k from 6k(12k CPU+Mobo combined budget, -6 for mobo.)

What is your gaming resolution?
HD 5670 will max most games at upto 1440x900.

Well u have:-

Athlon II X4 630 @ 4.9k

Biostar TA785G3 HD @ 4.3k

Total=9.2k

Now, depending on how much gaming you are into, you can buy:-

Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 Artic Accelero @ 5.4k

or

ASUS HD5750 FORMULA 1GB GDDR5 @ 8.2k

or

Powercolour PCS HD5750 1GB GDDR5 @ 8.4k

Love to play the latest games and dont mind playing at a bit lower resolution if the budget does'nt permit.

Amien's config also looks good.

What do you people say?

comp@ddict what is IGP?

Suggestions on

2 Gb ddr 3 ram -
SMPS -
Hard drive -

^
2 Gb ddr 3 ram - Corsair 1333Mhz 2GB DDR3 (10 years warranty) ~2.8k
SMPS - FSP Saga 350W ~1.5k
Hard drive - Seagate 7200.12 500GB/WD Caviar Blue 500GB ~2.4k

IGP Stands for Integrated Graphics Processor, or the onboard video on a motherboard.

BE stands for Black Edition. AMD processors that have unlocked multipliers carry this designation. An unlocked multiplier facilitates effortless overclocking.

Thanks Amien.

One question....is there a big difference between Phenom II X4 955 B.E. and
X4 925 or X4 965? Will the price difference between them worth it a x4 965 or X4 955BE. I am asking just to make my sys a bit more future proof than the other. But then cost is again a factor.

I have never overclocked before. Will there be any difficulty regarding temp or any other thing?

A quick reply will be appreciated.
