hi planning on buying a new rig interested in a amd based system (amd 64 3200+) but when i inquired about it with vendors they say it has heating issuses is it true

No, its absolutely NOT true. The Athlon 64s have no heating problem whatsoever.

Your vendor should be arrested promptly :bleh:

Ya there are no heating problems at all .The stock HSF is more thn enough for the proccy(it even overclocks decent on stock) .
I remember ppl suggesting not to go for amd64 in ritchie st. to my frn ,Wonder y tht is....

Infact its Intel which has heating issues. But do note any of the high end system will require a good case with atleast 2 fans. Try to get one with a side fan on the panel too. Even A64 tends to heat up my Socket 754 reaches 55"c in Mumbai heat, a Socket 939 would be cooler, Presscot would be an oven.

I would avoid doing business with such dealers.
and with your "limited" H/W knowledge (the fact that you posted such a question) i would advice you to seek

advice from the members here to finalise your rig. dont depend upon dealers or so called experts or assemblers. we have a fine bunch of world class hardware geeks here whom you can consult.
