hey guys my friend is getting a ati 6950 and has a gts 450 right now

he is confused whether or not with the help of a sticky can he use his 450 as a dedicated physx card on his system
he is using a Asus P7H55-USB3 with a core i5 760

thanks

Yeah friend can use both the cards. Ask to him google physx mod drivers. He has ensure he has a 650W or 750W PSU for running both the cards. Ensure he is using Win7. AFAIK It runs only on Win7. Get any ATI Drivers and anything below 256 of the green team. Let other members comment.
CANT LINK THE SITES, BROWSING ON THE PHONE.

yeah it can be done in the above mentioned physx mod drivers . But recently came across a guy who was telling that support for the new games with physx is not there . Reason being you have to update NVIDIA Drivers to 256 and above, which disable the functioning of NVIDIA card in presence of ATI card . Other memebers can tel you of the possible drawbacks of having the card now .

the same thing was on my mind too because when i saw the drivers most of them were optimized only for games from 2010

they must have upgraded the newer drivers to avoid this

but guys how about opting for another nvidia card instead of the 6950

i guess nividia allows multi gpu based processing but the question is whether his motherboard will support it as it supports only crossfire

will the board detect the two nvidia cards and run them both or is it necessary to use a sli compatible motherboard

The new forceware drivers will not allow this. He will need to use old nVidia drivers and the hack logic.

yes but that is only if he uses a sticky to run the ati card with his 450

but how about using two nvidia cards on the same board

will it still need some sort of a hack

Well, you can run an ati card with nvidia (physx only) even with the newer drivers...Just google Hybrid Physx 1.40ff...It does support foceware 260 and above.

Here's the link >Hybrid PhysX mod v1.03 / v1.04ff

nVidia will never openly permit this. Those drivers are also quite old. Did you check the forceware versions..? They are quite old. Hack is a hack..! :)

What you mean by sticky....? For 2x green cards no worries.

thank you everyone for your suggestions and advice

having two nvidia cards seems to the best option here
