ATI Driver Update screws Catalyst Controller :-(

I hav a HD 5850, and just updated my drivers and Catalyst Controller...
the update was successful, but the CC aint starting...
whenever open the CC, it loads for sometime and doesnt show up...

any idea why?

tried uninstalling and reinstalling... dint work...
 
Uninstall, use an app like Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode to completely remove all driver related files. Reboot and then install newer Catalyst. Also, try installing .Net 2.0 / 3.0 again once.
 
Well I had a similar problem some time back. You can read this thread. (Though it is for the guru3d forum -- but I created it). Try out what all I did systematically. Though in the end I installed some hot fix driver and it worked. It would just not load. You on XP. It was quite pissing off, to be honest.
