RV790 will at the end, end up as a slightly faster version of RV770 chip with some slightly improved shader performance.

The 850MHz core clock will let the card score a bit higher than the current Radeon 4870 but it will probably give a new sales breeze to ATI's partners. The 40nm RV740 should come slightly after and it should hit Nvidia hard in its mainstream 9600GT market.

The memory works at 975MHz in real frequencies, or 3900MHz effective in the GDDR5 world, but we are sure that some partners will bring out a faster version of the card. ATI currently only offers reference design cards, but give it a few weeks and partners will start coming with their own cards.

Radeon HD 4890 should come out in the second week of April, and the 1GB version should sell for €249.
According to the info on FUDZILLA , ATI's HD 4890 will be launched on Thursday, April 9th and not on Monday April 6th.

We heard the April 6th date before, but our sources are telling us the new date is April 9th. The new date reportedly isn't a delay, and as far as we could find out, the launch date was never supposed to be 6th of April in the first place.

AMD used the "week of April 6th" as a guidance for its partners and someone most probably mistook it for a launch date. The new date is April 9th, and Thursday is the D-Day for the HD 4890 card. The RV740 should come at the end of April or early in May, but the launch is too far to speculate about the precise date.

850 Mhz + improved shaders and memory clock can't make it only slighlty faster. Im expecting more.. fudzilla's fud..

Since Radeon HD 4890 cards have already started selling in Taiwan and Hong Kong and major etailers and distributors around the world have already gotten the cards, AMD has now decided to bring forward the launch date a week earlier to 2nd of April instead.

Right now, ASUS and Gigabyte HD 4890 cards are selling for HK$2280 (US$297) and HK$1999 (US$258) for other brands like HIS. However, the pre-launch prices are a bit on the high side as the cards are expected to retail at around US$249.

This move, however, caught Nvidia slightly off guard as their GTX 275 isn't ready yet and the clocks aren't even finalized. AIC partners haven't even got the samples to do internal testing and verifications so a hard launch for GTX 275 on the 2nd of April seems unlikely at this point of time.
