It's in the form of another new skew from ATI, the RADEON X800 GTO and is based upon some new ASICs, the R480 PRO, R430 PRO and R423 PRO ASICs.

Here's what we've got so far:

ATi RADEON X800 GTO
-12-pipe 3D engine with 256-bit memory interface
-256MB variants will feature a 400MHz VPU core and 490MHz GDDR-3 frequency
-128MB models will feature a 400MHz VPU core and 350MHz DDR-1 frequency
What's behind the launch of ATi RADEON X800 GTO?

Check back shortly...

This battle between nVidia and ATi is getting ridiculous by the day. Soon, there will be a situation when a "newer" card would be announced every single day.

^^LOL looks like ur prediction might actually come true. ATI shud now stop releasing more X800 cards :|. There's just way too much confusion in the market. On the other hand the reason for these cards probably is that it has too many defective R430/480/423 cores that it wants to get rid of before the R520 launch since no one will buy an X800 after the R520 comes out. Ppl might be able to snag one of these parts at a real bargain in the process ;).

Absolutely. Spot on as always.

Currently ATI is having a cash flow crunch, (just like me), as chaos mentioned earlier it has lots of dead inventory to get rid of.

they should sell their x800xt for $299 sales will go up.
better they should price it as the 6800GT $260

Way too many x800 products for ATi own good. Some potential buyer might get miffed by so many different monikers :p
XT, XTPE, Pro, XL, GT, GTO... :S

^^ they have no less monikers
6800LE
6800XT
6800NU
6800GT
6800GTO (OEM)
6800Ultra
6800 Ultra extreme
 No matter what the consumer is at the receiving end

Ok... so you mean the memory is slower than standard GT.....But why.... I don't understand the need for a GTO when there is already a GT

Well its a rather old card... as i said 12 pipes so all the failed GT cores probably went to these and dell bought them for cheap :p
