ATI Technologies Inc., the global 3D graphics and digital media silicon solutions provider, recently announced the availability of the Radeon X1900 GT graphics processor in the Indian market.

The product is being distributed by Mediatech India, which has offices in Delhi and Mumbai. The product will be made available throughout the country in due course, the company sad.

The powercolor Radeon X1900GT captures the speed, performance and rich feature set of the Radeon X1900XTX and is available in India at a suggested retail price of Rs 19,500 and comes with a three-year warranty.

Vijay Sharma, director of ATI's desktop discrete products, ATI Technologies, said, "The Radeon X1900GT blends lightning-fast frame rates with unmatched image realism for incredibly impressive game play - something ATI is optimized to deliver as the only company that supports features like high dynamic range and anti-aliasing simultaneously. The Radeon X1900GT is a fantastic gaming card for the money, plain and simple."

The Radeon X1900GT features engine and memory clock speeds of 575MHz and 600MHz, respectively, along with 256MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory in a sleek single-slot cooling design.

People who do not have access to Mediatech India's offices can place their order on the website Welcome to Mediatech India. Since the products are readily available in the maket now, the delivery can happen within a span of a day or two, the company said.

X-bit labs has compared powercolor x1900Gt to 7900GT.

Highs:

High performance in a majority of applications
Support for transparency antialiasing
FSAA and HDR (FP16) can be used simultaneously
VIVO
Hardware decoding of H.264 and other HD formats
Good overclockability
Support for dual-link DVI
Support for CrossFire without a Master card
Lows:

Slower than the GeForce 7900 GT in a large number of existing applications
High power consumption
Obsolete cooler design
Long PCB (may make it impossible to install the card into a small system case)
Poor accessories
Scanty accessories

performance wise the x1900gt is slower than a 7800gt or around the 7800gt mark in some games. so i dont see how it is going to compete with the 7900gt.

And you would also get much more performance out of OC'ing the 7900 GT. The X1900 GT i imagine wont be able to be OC'ed much.

some Gts come with 1.4ns ram so overclocking wont be that much of a problem ;) also there are reports that some x1900GT can be unlocked to a full x1900xt -256mb :P

RAM wont be a problem but core, how far do u think u'll be able to take that on the amount of heat the core generates and on single slot cooling. The 7900 GT can go a lot further than the stock speeds and still generates a lot less heat. Not to mention its gonna be at least 2k less expensive. And can u post a link to those reports, i havent heard of that being done yet.

^^7900GT is good only if nvidia sorts out the issue its facing now. Again a friend bought a xfx 7900GT, it went kaput as soon as he playing FEAR. Good thing is that kinofevil's 7900GT OC is fine till now.

i thought of getting 1900GT from sg for 15k, but then ditched that plan.

Tweaktown has done a review (dated 23rd June 2006) on HIS x1800gto vs Gecube x1900gt vs x1800xt.
This is what they conclude
GeCube X1900GT Final Thoughts

When you open up the GeCube package and have a look through it, you’re not all that excited but when it comes to looking at the performance benchmark numbers, it is a very good card.

It is basically on par with the Radeon X1800XT with it being slightly better at producing better numbers at the high resolutions. It’s not the kind of card you would buy if you had an X1800XT already. Although, if you had an X1800GT or something in the mid-range area such as a GeForce 6600GT from nVidia or a Radeon X1600XT from ATI, it is a very good graphics cards upgrade path for you to consider. Available at under $500 AUD in Australia and roughly around $300 USD in the United States, it is also quite a bargain for people who just think that you cannot beat ATI image quality or don’t want to spend about $100 USD extra on the higher X1900XT model.

The X1900GT also has the ability to play with HDR and AA enabled, and when we say play we mean at a good FPS. This is still a feature that nVidia owners are unable to achieve which is a huge bummer considering you can fork out huge dollars for a top of the line SLI rig and still not be able to achieve something which a graphics card valued at $500AUD card can.

While the GeCube X1900GT cannot offer smooth playable gaming at 1600 x 1200 with AA and AF turned on, you won’t have any problems playing most of the latest games at 1600 x 1200 without turning up your settings. If you want to play at 1600 x 1200 and above with all the settings turned up, you’ll need to spend more money on a X1900XT or XTX or consider buying another X1900GT and put into Crossfire mode.

Which is better x1800xt or x1900gt?

The benchmarks in This review shows the X1800XT higher in most benchmarks..

But with high temperatures and such complaints on some brands of X1800XT it would be safer to go for the X1900GT i guess..

wrong, x1900gt runs hotter than an x1800xt, single slot cooler, remember?
