Graphic Cards ATI X1xxx Series News

^^ I wouldnt be surprised at all. 3dmark 2005 is totally GPU based thats why its a Bullshit parameter for gaming performance. We need better alternatives now...

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this here, but i'm sure those of you who read the XS thread would've seen this :

Our guy in there just informed us that Ati is going to give an end to Hard mods cause the new card has software to change the VCORE

Software Vmods!

yeah read that....

but no point in me cheering coz by the time I get a new card, the r520s would be dead. So would the r6xx. I guess, I will be ready to buy an r 9xx series graphics card :P

As the card maker doesn't wish to reveal the R520 performance yet, but we can confirm that R520 at 24pp or 32pp will not be lower than that of the GeForce 7800GTX. Even though the 32pp and 24pp R520 mass production will face some difficulties, but the 16 pipelines R520 using the 90nm core will be clocked high to maintain a certain level of competitiveness. Apart from employing TSMC to make the 90nm R520 cores, UMC will be making them as well in the near future to make up the shortage problem and we can see more of the 32pp and 24pp R520 versions.

this is from HKEPC ..........i thought only 16pp card was supposed to be released......

they also say that the performance of 32pp and 24pp will be higher than 7800gtx does that mean that the performance of 16pp will be lower?

@heman: those are old rumours.read the previous pages of this threads. lots of things changed. ATi is going to have a 16 pipeline card only, 24-32 maybe reserved for later generations !

^ Davies, the Techpowerup link already posted on the previous page !

Sander Sassen has finally posted something accurate and realistic about the R5xx series! :P

His last para however strays into his rants once again.

I love this bit though:
The preliminary benchmarks we’ve provided earlier, run on a pre-production card, will prove to be on the low side however. ATI has already raised the clock speeds and has done some extensive work on their drivers since then, effectively rendering them outdated.

Outdated, err.. yeah right !

If ATI is to be believed the Radeon X1800XT consistently outperforms the GeForce 7800GTX in all games, sometimes by as much as 80%. I’m afraid that is pure marketing speak however, as they’ve made bold claims such as these before. I vividly remember when the Radeon X800XT PE was introduced they circulated similar benchmark results showing it besting the GeForce 6800 Ultra by as much as 40%, which of course proved to be just wishful thinking.

Well isnt he wishfully thinking as well :P

3d mark 05 score for

6800 ultra= 5500

x800 xt pe = 6600

7800 gtx = 8200

x1800 xt = 9100+

so there isn`t going to be much diff between the two......

anyway i don`t care about any of these cards ...my only interest will be

the nvidia 7600 gt vs ati x1600

7800gtx stock scores are around 7.8k and 7800GTX overclocked cards score around 8.2-8.4k so if the x1800 is overclocked we will definitely see it crossing 10k maybe 11k even.

dont rule out the 7800gt which scores around 7600 in 3dmark2k5.

that might just be the budget card to get. also most of the 7800gt are factory ocd which are on par with the gtx except in splinter cell i think.

any idea about the x1800xl or pro 3dmark scores.

ok

stock

7800 gtx = 7900

x1800 xt = 9100

overclocked

7800 gtx = 8400

x1800 xt = 9700

well if the score of gtx oced is about 600 higher than stock ......therfore i am taking the oced x1800 score by adding 600 to the stock score.........it may be higher only time will tell.........

lol no the stock score of the x1800 is around 9700  secondly the x1800 has a radically different architecture so assuming that since Nv's card got a 600 points rise ATis card will get the same is wrong ;).

The oc'ed score will go well over 10k and well over 12k with exotic cooling. These number aren't pulled put of my a$$ though ;). There is a ocing competition going on @ ibiza and macci and sampsa are present there. They have been able to reach 868/1880 !! and they have barely scratched the surface :D with some voltmodding and super cooling this might be the first GPU to cross 1Ghz on core ;)

Here is a quote from a guy @ ibiza attending the competition

The cards were not cherries...I tried an off the line card and it actually clocked higher than what has been reported and it wasn't even under LN2, it was using the famous Chilly1 Xtremefrostbyte III (-80C) and only slight volt modding. Believe me when I tell you this is only scratching the surface. A true hardcore run with LN2 and significant volts should achieve some never before seen GPU speeds.

nice find ..... looks like ATi is going to eat nvidia ..... :)
