Audio cd not working in cd player

GODMODE09

Level D
Hi guys,
I downloaded a cpl of songs and wrote it into a cd in mp3 format. The written cd works in my computer and dvd player , but it is not working in the Philips cd player. Other cds work in the cd player.
I checked and the cd player supports mp3 format and I have written it in the same format.
What do i do?

Please help. I don't have much experience in writing audio cds.

Thanks in advance

There could be n possible issues here....
1)Which year/model is the CD player?
2)The media (blank disk) you used?
3)Format of the songs(bitrate, variable/fixed, codec)? RW or single write media.
4)If its only a couple of songs why not burn it as audio cd and not as mp3. This way it will work.

1. I bought it this year from ebay.. so less than 2 yrs old
2. I wrote it in a new blank cd
3. It says MPEG layer 3 audio file (has a .mp3 extension).I suppose both are same? Bit rate is 192 kbps. I can't find info on codec, var/fixed).
4. I did burn it as audio cd only.

Thanks , let me know if u can help me further.

4. I did burn it as audio cd only. - If you check the contents of that CD in a PC/laptop using windows explorer what do you see?? Several files with mp3 extn or some files of size 1kb??

My replies in bold....

However weird but some players just do not recognize some specific company discs.
At what speed did you write the CD using your PC's CD/DVD writer ? If you did at 40X/48X/52X etc speeds sometimes the players do not recognize the content. I had to write PS2 DVDs at 2X speeds to make them work with the PS2.
Try writing at lower speeds like 16X or so.

Can you check the encoding format used while burning the CD, i think if you used a different or a more modern format, it may not play in CD players.

I had this problem with some CD's which would not play in the car stereo, but work flawlessly in DVD players and comps.

Check if the format is set to ISO9660\Joliet and not UDF.

guys, thanks a lot.. I'm going 2 start from scratch. which software should I use to write? I'll make sure I do it in the above mentioned write speeds and formats.

Imgburn is pretty lightweight software. Use that instead of the higher memory consuming Nero and all.

He wants to create a Audio CD so I guess even Windows media player would be a nice choice...
Try burning at a slower speed of say 18X or max 24X. and remember to close the session at the end... you dont have to do this explicitly the software may prompt you if that is an option. If it does not prompt then its fine as the session is closed ...
