Hi,
What should be the ideal bitrate for mp3's copied in the cell. Does downsampling from 320Kbps to 128 Kbps noticeably affect the music quality in the cellphones ?
Should mp3s be converted to aac or mp4 or just downsampled ?

Also, what is the ideal format (low on space but high on quality - good balance) for avi/mpg/wmv to be converted to for cellphones ? .3gp or .mp4 ?

I find m4a(aac) files at 64kbps to be good enough for listening via my hpm70, convert them using iTunes ... good balance of sound and quality. (around 400 songs on my 1gb stick)

mp4 is the better format for video, the bitrate and resolution depends on the processing power of your cell :)

What software do you use to copy it to your cell ? Do you do it manually (copy paste after connecting your cell via data cable) ?

Ans: No noticable effect. in cellphones, 320kbps and 128kbps sounds almost same
Q: Should mp3s be converted to aac or mp4 or just downsampled ?
Ans: Why not give a try and experiment. i thing MP3 will be the best in sound quality
Also, what is the ideal format (low on space but high on quality - good balance) for avi/mpg/wmv to be converted to for cellphones ? .3gp or .mp4 ?

Dunno about you but below 112k there is a audible drop in quality for m4a files. I use dbpoweramp for conversion. aac strikes a good balance between sound and quality. 128k aac = 192k mp3 file.

@Nvidiabeast: mp3 is lossy so it won't be as good as m4a/aac. And he's asking about conversion of .avi files to .3gp and .mp4.

If your phone doesn't support USB 2 speeds then get a card reader ... it will be the fastest way

Maybe, but unfortunately most of the mp3's I've got are encoded at 128kbps orignally, so not much loss in quality @ 64kbps :)
