Autocad 2009 wanna buy from india or abroad

hey guys.
i require auticad 2009 for my business and would like to know is it worth buying in india or abroad as its a expensive software.at usa website it shows 1200$ i.e rs52k appox.so help me in getting the price in india and also if you know anybody who can give a good deal

If you are concerned about the pricing factor...
My suggession is to try alterate 2d drafting systems...
Even our Industry has a 2d Software which can open edit and save in autocad 2.5 to 2008 format.
Even commands and aliases are same.
If needed you can contact me at +91 99450 74954 and i would divert to the concerned person who can help you.

Note: the software is just 20-25% of autocad cost...
Mention how many license you may need.

afaik if you buy from abroad for india, your licence is not valid here. you need to purchase from the authorized autodesk dealer in india. this is what i was told when i had purchased the licencing.

if you are interested i can forward you the resellers number here in mumbai who i purchased from.
 
please send me the resellers details i will contact them,
i have contacted kmd and i got a quote of rs 52000/- just for the dam software (lol)
 
52k is about right for autocad - its a basic engineering software - what did you expect - even ProE/Solidworks (the most basic 3D engg softwares) cost a minimum of 1.5-2 lac for a basic license. so 52k for autocad is alright.

As far as licensing, it should not be an issue as to where from you buy the license as long as it is legit (Normally licenses are dependent on the machine ID generated by the license tool). But contact the support ppl of autodesk ppl to be sure.

Buying locally from the resellers is preferable though - you can negotiate a lower price - Bulk orders or a future projection of bulk order of licenses could get you a good discount
 
52k is infact very cheap. the software costs around 1lakh 5thousand or so here + tax.

also do make sure if the licence is valid when you buy from abroad. otherwise it will just be 52k down the drain.

Ask US support if you buy a license and move to India, will it still be valid? :D

Should be ok.

yes but in the end he is using it in india. so if he buys from the usa. next day indian autodesk rep comes n says the licence is not valid & he needs to purchase it. then what is he supposed to do. the usa will not give him support here. so its best to ask the autodesk support here in india.

I disagree :)

India wala guy will never agree cos he wants him to buy from here na ;)

But once US support confirms in a mail etc that it ll work, the India guys cant do anything bout it, can they? :P

Cos then u can easily shout out the company that they misled u etc etc ;) no one will want that headache.

hats why, ask US support and then buy from there :D

again your wrong. what the indian company can do is send a notice for you to close up, charge a huge fine. it had happened to 1 of my friend some years back when he had purchased maya from london.
 
@ techie_007 : If you do not know how software licensing works, please do not respond in any such threads. It'll only lead to misleading the junta.

Most software are sold in a country specific way. Even Windows for that matter.

Also, the price of 52k that kunalthesarkar has mentioned is KMD's transfer price. If local support is not available for software purchased in US, then there is no point in buying it.

Locate a reseller nearest to you and find out if you have the option of buying it online.
 
not if the US subsidiary has confirmed that he can use the copy legally :)

No use speculating, contact the US guys n ask first ;)

EDIT: @TheMask: Just giving advice to contact US support and ask, no harm in that, is there? I didnt say it will be valid...
 
@kunal - it just hit me - make sure that it is 52k for the software+license and not just the software.
