Autocad/ CorelDraw from US

Hi,

I am looking for official licensed Autocad, CorelDraw X6 & Google Sketchup Pro 8. I understand the softwares will work in India if I get it from the US. But my concern is is it legal to use the softwares here since they are meant for US. The price difference is significant almost half if bought from Amazon/ Newegg as compared to India. Also what about software support if required? Please help, need to get these softwares asap.

Are you a student OR just looking to do this for personal knowledge / recreation?

If you are a student, you are entitled for a free license of certain AUTODESK software for 3 years since date of registration on their site with details of which course you are undergoing in a database of college and universities that they keep[there are a few modalities and caveats, pertaining your college encouraging legit software]. Not sure about CorelDRAW and Google SketchUP [I thought that the latter was a freeware].

Here is the link to the AUTODESK educational community. You can find relevant details here, whether you are eligible for a free copy, starter edition copy OR where to purchase it from.

Also I don't think it will be possible to run a copy of US software in India, because generally companies enforce strict Regional codes and locks that disallow purchase from a particular region and activation / usage in another region.

i am not a student, but this is for my office where i work and i have inhouse architects who have to design and all .
wish i was a student :)


you have a valid point of the us version software versus india software , but the point is the software costs here more then double which is ridicules .

i was checking out ebay.com just now as was seeing people are selling education licence which has 3 year validity for hardly 25-35$ , don't understand how legal is all this .

Try sending them an email and ask if you can use the US version internationally.

Educational copies are not legal when used in a business environment and could land you in trouble when there is an audit.
 
wrote to autodesk team they replied back writing

We apologize, but Autodesk software programs will only work in the country they are purchased. If you do purchase a United States AutoCAD LT, it will not function once you leave the United States.

You could always purchase Corel online. It will usually direct you to the Singapore / APAC store for the purchase. Prices are more or less in line to what it is in the States.
