axis bank vs. citi bank

I want to open a bank account for main purpose of online shopping using debit card(preferable inlt. Debit card) and flight bookings through debit cards only (transactions can go in lakhs). Please suggest me which bank should be best for the purpose. Any other suggestions are also welcome.
 
Friend has an Axis debit, he says it works with paypal have no idea about amazon.com and such international sites.

HDFC aint bad either.
 
I have been with axisbank for almost 7 years now. I used to purchase stuff from amazon and steam all the time when I was in India. I never had any problem with the debit card.
 
Standard Chartered bank. CC works on international sites too. Most probably their debit card should work too.

Edit: I think there's a daily limit on cash withdrawal on debit cards of us$1000 or so. Some RBI rule I think. I don't think you can use it for international shopping in lakhs. I may be wrong though.

Cash withdrawl and using online are two different things. As per recent RBI guidelines, the users of CC were given an option to set their maximum limit for international online purchase. You can set it to as high as you want.

I was with them for 5 years, as my salary account. Now have changed jobs. Really loved this bank, since branch visits are 0.00000. All can be done online. Guess they value high amount clients. I will shut down this account. No, ways can I maintain 1L in savings..!

Go with Citibank, you will value their customer care and door step services much more than Axis bank.

I think he was talking about debit cards. Debit cards do have limits for online transactions, which I realized recently. My ICICI debit card has a limit of 1 lac per day. For a different type of debit card (Platinum, I think), the limit is 2 lacs.

@harshit143 Please clarify twice or thrice with your bank about the limits for online transactions using a debit card. Opt for a type of card that suits your needs.

Yeah. Sorry about that.

@OP - Get the HDFC Platinum debit card if you can. Will cost you Rs. 500 yearly but they recently raised the limit from 1L to 2.75L for online shopping for all Platinum Debit Card holders. That should cover most of your ticket purchases hopefully.
 
I have applied for axis bank today with titanium debit card which gives me a limit of 4 lakhs online :-D ..costs 500 p/a but will surely fill my need. I need the card for online intl. flight bookings which can cost in lakhs for family trip purposes.
