Hi guys, posting here after long time.
I am shifting to Mumbai for a year or so. I know there are many here from Mumbai, so would like to know few things about it, so that I can make perfect plan to relocate to Mumbai.
I will mostly be staying on rent in Navi Mumbai, but there is still a chance I could stay in the main one.

I need to know few stuff.
1. Can I change my mobile circle? because for one year I can't live on roaming. Mine is Idea btw.
2. I have been to Mumbai many times, but not stayed long, so how is the weather there, I know this is stupid question, but I heard you have to stay home during rains.
3. Traveling, I am from Pune, so thinking about getting my bike for short travels and use trains for long travels, will it be worth it?
4. Food, this is my first time I am going to be alone, so have to eat outside food, I will need to check out for dinner only, as lunch will be in office.
5. Other things??

Thanks in advance, any more points will be appreciated, sorry if this thread is stupid :p

Welcome to Navi Mumbai , me , @viralbug and a few others on the forum are from Navi Mumbai :) . Let me know if you need any help.

Where is your office exactly ? Which area of Navi Mumbai are you planning to shift to ? How do you plan to travel to work ? Any particular budget for rented place ?

Hi thanks for the reply, my budget is 8k for flat, I can go upto 12k max, I am looking at Airoli area, I will travel using the company cab only. Office is in Airoli mindspace.

Welcome !!

Some info in quote.

1. Can I change my mobile circle? because for one year I can't live on roaming. Mine is Idea btw.

In Mumbai circle Idea can not add new customers for 3G service. So if you need 3G connectivity, you might need to take new SIM. Also it is possible that you won't be charged for incoming calls but your call rate might change for outgoing - based on my experience on Vodafone.

2. I have been to Mumbai many times, but not stayed long, so how is the weather there, I know this is stupid question, but I heard you have to stay home during rains.

Humidity is generally higher so it is sweaty almost whole year. At times in rainy season when it rains heavily, train service does get affected. It is not that terrible that you can not come out of your home only :p

3. Traveling, I am from Pune, so thinking about getting my bike for short travels and use trains for long travels, will it be worth it?

Proper one.

4. Food, this is my first time I am going to be alone, so have to eat outside food, I will need to check out for dinner only, as lunch will be in office.

There are plenty of tiffin services available there. You can checkout in your office with someone who is not local - s/he must be availing such service.

5. Other things??

I feel Mumbai is faster then other cities, my perspective. If not acquainted with travelling in local trains, it is going to be a good learning experience. :p

For flat on rent it will be cheaper if you can share it with 2-3 people. There are PG services but I will not recommend.

I am a local guy here. I would recommend looking for home in Airoli or in Navi Mumbai. Do not look for accomodation outside Navi Mumbai. Since, you have a bike I would recommend you to bring it along and yes it will be totally worth it. I would recommend you to find room partners as rent in Navi Mumbai will be steep for you alone.
Navi Mumbai is a very planned city. Rains create havoc in Mumbai but very few problems occur in Navi Mumbai. Travelling in Navi Mumbai is a breeze with a bike you can travel from anywhere to your office.
Pune has much better weather so you will miss Pune's weather.
Since there are lot of bachelors living in Navi Mumbai, you wont find any problem finding good tiffin service.

If you need a flat there are many groups on facebook where you can see the flat image and then pay the rent as you like. Here are the groups because I am also a member of the same:
