Back to PC Gaming after a long time, need recommendations

So I had a very shitty PC, thus I played CS1.6, CSS, HL2, Portal, CnC Red Alert 2, CnC Generals. As you can see all these are very old games. I've missed out on a lot of PC Gaming over the past 4-5 years.

Now I've bought a good laptop which would be able to run all latest games at decent framerates

1) So which are the 'must play' games from the past 4-5 years which I've missed?

2) Which are the current 'hot' gaming titles?

3) Which are the biggest anticipated games about to be released in the near future?
 
FPS: Bioshock (must play!!!), Battlefield Bad company 2, COD MW2, COD BO (believe me when I say, that you can play this ENTIRE game on hardest difficulty without shooting a single bullet....lol..), Crysis 2, Mirror's edge (an excellent First person platforming),

TP action adventure: Prince of Persia series (at least till the two thrones, if you havent played them already), Batman:arkham asylum, Assassin's creed series, Hunted:demon's forge, Just cause 2, GTA 4 & EFLC,

RPG: Mass effect, Fable 3, Two worlds 2, Witcher 2, Dragon's age origins and sequel,

Racing: GRID, NFS Most wanted, hot pursuit (2010), split second, blur

These are the games off the top of my head......
 
Go to Gamespot and look through the charts once, and IGN too, will help a lot. Then you can decide games based on your genre and not people's personal favourites.
