Storage Solutions Backup solution? SSD or Flash Drive? - Documents and Photos

So I need a solution to backup some very important stuff. I need to backup documents and photos. All in all currently my docs take up 10GB and my photos take up 60GB (and likely to grow). Currently I sync them between two internal hdds in the same desktop.

What's important for me is:

  1. Reliability - should not fail and should have a very low risk of losing data (hence not even considering spinning hdds).
  2. Portability (for Docs, not really for photos)
  3. Data Transfer & synchronization - Docs are edited on a daily basis almost, and I need some convenient way to sync the files with my desktop. Pics not so much.

What do you recommend? Are SSDs supposed to be more reliable or pen drives? Also not mentioning a budget, as that is flexible depending on the options, but the solution being VFM is paramount. I don't need to pay a premium for cutting edge technology.

Thanks!
