Ok well, I dont have a method to get ethernet cable to my pc so had to resort to wifi since I have a solid wrt54gl running for 6 years, all 5 laptops in the house run fine on it. So i went ahead and bought a d-link wifi card.. the thing refused to detect any network no matter how much I tweaked it. I'm not a complete noob, been using pc's since my first memory so trust me, I tried everything to get it to detect. So it finally did, then I saw it refused to keep a stable connection, dc every 5 mins. I had enough, I took it back, spent another 300rs bringing my cost to 1600 and bought a linksys wmp54g..
This installed, detected, ran fine.. oh guess what THIS ALSO DROPS NETWORK EVERY 20 minutes or so, has a signal of 2 bars, speed of 12mbps. Are you freaking kidding me? all the laptops run at 54mbps and never disconnects, EVER and always has full signal. What the hell is going on with pc wifi cards? Drivers dont help, fiddling with the antenna dosnt help.

every card im looking up people are complaining of disconnects, packet losses, rtos, lack of signal.. I'm freaking frustrated off my knockers. I dont know which card to get, I feel like im throwing my money at these manufacturers and giving them free cash to produce more faulty goods like the wmp54g. I tried moving the pc away, i tried moving the near the router evem even at full signal strength, it drops the network when other laptops retain it. Is this a freaking joke manufacturers are trying to pull on us?
