Hi all,

I own Bajaj Pulsar 150cc DST-i 2005 model purchased in November 2005.

In the 1st service, my vehicle has been tuned for mileage and so I am finding it difficult to drive when I have a person along with me. The vehicle is finding difficult to pull both of us.

I want to know where this is a standard procedure in 1st service or just the person in service center did that on his own idea to offer more mileage ?
Also I am thinking of adding double indicator instead of single indicator ( When I switch on the indicator (or special switch) all the four indicator will lite. Because sometimes I get phone calls while I am driving and have to pullover in the dark area. Another reason is that I have to take straight route in most of the signal in the city and all the time people try to take left or right while I try to take straight route (Most of people in Chennai who drive 2-wheelers are idiots)).

Now will that affect the life of battery and create any problems in the the flasher circuit or any other parts of the vehicle ? How to implement this all indicator functionality in my Pulsar ?
One more thing, I want to add a 55 Watts Headlight as most of the time I drive in dark area and sometimes in highroad with oncomming vehicle making my eyes blind so can't see anything before me.

So what can I do to add 55 watts headlamp ?

In all the above cases, will my warranty of the vehicle will get affected ??

Note: I give my pulsar to service only in authorised service center.

about the mileage tuning, its perfectly normal. i have the same bike and had to drive carefully the first two months so that the engine could "set-in"

and about all other stuff, its better you go to a specialist so that you will know exactly what you can get

Hey checksum thanks for replying.

Riding at 50 Kmph in 5th gear at 3500 RPM. Is this bad ??? I haven't crossed 50 Kmph but once.

waaaaaaaat you haven't crossed 50kmph(No offense meant:) ), i can do it my TVS XL super very easily and my XL can pull twice my weight at 60Kmph:hap2: .

@Saiyan --- - It is recommended that in the running in period, you do not rev the engine more than 5k(in my 180. Dunno abt 150). So, he is not able to get into the peak of the powerband

^^ You guys should not be doing anythng over 50 in Chennai traffic on a 2 wheeler....

@Kannan
Most of people in Chennai who drive 2-wheelers are idiots

That's true ...so are the water tanks and The MTC bus drivers and even if you guys drive sensibly, you never know abt the others on the Road....There are ppl here who'll be talkin on a cellphone while driving a bike....

OT- But I Wonder if you guys have seen that Stupid ad for the new Bajaj Bike which they tout as the "traffic cutter"

Whenever I see that Ad, i feel like wringing out the necks of the as#$es in Bajaj's Ad & SP team

Aargh..Nikhil beat me to it.

^^ That is a TVS Ad (TVS Victor or TCS Victor (As argus says :ohyeah:)).

If you think Chennai is bad, U shud checkout Hyderabad sometime, the 2 wheelers are bad, auto drivers are mad and the 7 seaters (15 seaters in reality) are psychos.

Regards,

DC.

Well, the traffic situation is similar in almost all metros. Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hydbad, etc....

Hazard warning lights(as u said all indicators at same time) will serve ur purpose in the first case but in the second it wud not. coz they are not made for that. and i think its illegal to use the hazard warning lights if u intended to go straight.

about ur second query i will say adding 55w headlamp wud not be a good choice for long run coz it will affect both the wiring and electricals of the bike. and i feel that the stock lights of the pulsar are good(way better than mine CBZ :( )

lmost all metros. Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hydbad, etc

I disagree wrt Delhi...the traffic there is a lot more sensible....owe it to the cops who'll go the xtent of fining you for hi-beams or the wide roads..

ALso for Bangalore, the roads may be narrow, but the traffic isn't chaotic....

... Never heard that from anyone in my 25 years in Delhi :S Overspeeding yes, but not that.

I disagree wrt Delhi...the traffic there is a lot more sensible...

private buses ready to run you over, Haryana Roadways daredevils, heavy trucks (no entry be damned) bikes and laddas weaving in and out of the traffic (who needs traffic cutters), traffic jam - no problem; the foot-path is meant to take care of two wheeler traffic in such situations, uncles driving @ 40kmph in the middle of road, people jumping red lights in waves, cycle-rickshaws waving an arm and turning as and when they please, even better are the drivers who find it too much of effort to push a turn indicator switch, or the countless those who turned it on miles ago and forgot all about it... you were joking...right

I used to crib more than you abt delhi traffic when I used to live there....

In retrospect, that traffic feels heaven-sent when compared to the conditions we have here

@Kannan - I guess your run-in is complete by now. You can try increasing the engine speed slowly from now. Just do not ride at a constant speed/rev the bike in lower gears. Wrt to your engine not pulling two people, does it happen right from the time you cold start your bike? Air cooled engines do tend to heat up when running in traffic and do lose a little bit of pep.
And regarding fixing a 55w bulb, you could try getting hold of a 35w HID lamp. It will offer much better lighting, but a little bit on the expensive side.
