I want to buy a basic as cheap as possible phone under 3k, which must have EDGE capability. Brand preference- Nokia.
 
^Its resolution is too low. Plus VGA cam these days! :no: I want to get a 2nd hand phone which probably retails new around for 6k, thus something 3k for 2nd hand. :| Moreover I personally find Nokia more Java compatible than Samsung.
 
How about a basic nokia phone - nokia 2700c.

PS : Camera is crap.
 
Try to get a Samsung i200 (if its available anywhere). You should be able to get it for 2.5k max new. Its a discontinued phone, but very good albeit slow phone. Resolution is 320x240 with a 2MP cam which is OK. And build quality is awesome.
