1) Price range : 30,000 - 40,000, though looking to spend as less as possible.
2) Processor : i5 4th generation (Maybe i3 would do if there isn't much of a performance difference)
3) Screen : Doesn't matter, 14-15" should do.
4) Graphics : No gaming at all, have a PC for that.
5) RAM : 4 GB at least.
6) Keyboard and Touchpad : Backlit, though not necessary.
7) Thickness and weight : As low as possible.
8) Brands: Any would do except Acer and Sony.
9) Storage : 500 GB minimum.
10) Battery: Matters a lot, 4-5 hours at least.

I intend to keep this laptop for at least 2-3 years. Another thing, I can also purchase the laptop from Dubai (a bit cheaper there) or from India (online).[DOUBLEPOST=1398969637][/DOUBLEPOST]The Lenovo Z510 costs ~40k in Dubai. Is that the best I could get in this budget?

Only an ultrabook will be able to provide this much battery life. And Z510 is a series not the exact model number. There are many sub-models under Z510.

Asus T100, while not a laptop, will do all you want from the above. Screen size on lower size. Will double as a Tablet. Has fully loaded W8.1 + Office 2013 license (if you care;-))
