Basic Network commands help needed

Hi guys,

I m here seeking for any help regarding network commands like nbtstat, ping, telnet , traceroute

I know Its quite basic to ask this over here but I m completely novice when it comes to network related command . For startup can u please give tell what nbtstat does?

Why and when to use the command?

Please don't give any external link i just want them to use for basic troubleshooting.

I m using windows operating system.

to start with i have fired following command .

C:\Documents and Settings\pinga123>nbtstat -A 10.180.18.190

Output:

Can u please tell me any practical use of the command.
 
This command will tell u the host IP address, their computer name and the domain involved .... this helps you to see if all hosts are responding. It is a tool to view and manipulate the NetBIOS name table and the name cache. It is possible to discover who is logged onto a networked PC. You can use this command with suitable switches.
 
And one more thing you need to have admin rights on the local machine to use this command. Otherwise you will get the following message.

C:\>nbtstat -A 160.95.122.1
Failed to access NetBT driver -- NetBT may not be loaded
