i have reached the waiting limit and now i cant wait any more so please advice motherboard, processor , ram[4GB] , SMPS in 10k range and if possible then an entry level secondhand GPU as well

looking to buy a liano/trinity based motherboard/processor combo in 6~7k range

This is a basic setup for my sister where she can play some games along with her studies
main use .... simple java programs and occasional games so i think a dual core setup is enough

please suggest accordingly also i cant found any trinity setup (online) as FM1 will be fazed out very soon

Wait for entry-level 'Trinity' chips to out, they will be a better deal. If you cannot wait then this is what I suggest --

AMD A6-3500 ~4500/-
GIGABYTE-A75-S2V ~5000/-
Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3200/-

Already this overshoots your tentative budget by quite a margin, so why don't you give a few more details (like what type of games will she play and which programming applications will be run) and a more exacting budget; inclusive of SMPS [do not buy local] and other sundry articles.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

@ALPHA17 thanks for the prompt reply [i was expecting yours ;)]

she plays NFS most wanted upto now and often ask me which game to play so its me who will decide which game is good for her

i am not expecting high end games on full HD resolution so some racing , action adventure , RPG , puzzle games would be good on low/medium settings [for HD games she can always use my main PC under my guidance]
its just basic class 9th standard java programing and MS office [not even close to demanding softwares]

PC specs
samsung 22' full HD TFT monitor
cooler master 550W extreme power plus (will replace with corsair 430W or seasonc/gigabyte/FSP 450W @ 3k range- not included in this budget as of now)
athlon x2 250 + gigabyte 785chipset mobo (will sell these and add 2~3k to get the combo) as not many games are playable on 22' screen with readon 4250 IGP
2GB ram

how long can we expect for entry level Trinity setup

Beginning of November tops.

Okay, in that case this is a RIG I can confidently suggest (if it is an immediate buy) --

AMD A6-3500 ~4500/- OR A6-3650 ~6000/-
MSi-A75M-GD55 ~6000/- (a better board overall)
Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3200/-
FSP Saga II 400W ~2100/- (only available at TechShop.in)
[rest as you see fit]

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

how about [flipkart links are just for reference]
Gigabyte A55M-DS2 Motherboard | Motherboard | Flipkart.com
AMD 2.5 GHz FM1 uPGA A4 3300 Processor | Processor | Flipkart.com

i dont need 8GB ram ... already installed 2GB is enough ... can be taken care in future as well
FSP saga 400W @ 2100 is a good choice where as i can extend the budget to 3k for slightly better PSU

As of now i have a budget of 7k [mobo/proccy] so A6-3500 and MSI board over shoots it

P.S. Do AMD provide international warranty if i go with US sites and import through ishop/iccworld also EVGA provide global warranty but i doubt they produce amd boards

The A55 chipset severely curtails your rear I / O options no USB 3.0 and only two DIMM's.

The processor is equally poor, in-fact in compute performance these will not be a substantial upgrade from the Athlon IIx2 you are currently dependent on. Also, the iGP is very weak. Might as well get the Intel Pentium G630 at this price.

For RAM why I am asking you to go for more in two-fold.
Go with this motherboard instead --> GIGABYTE-A75M-S2V if price is an issue.

Yes as far as I know it has similar processor warranty terms as Intel. So you can import cheap from abroad. eVGA is a nVidia loyalist, no AMD products from them.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

this system is used very rarely as she hardly get time to use it due to studies also i am not seeing this as an upgrade (in terms of processing power)
recently both mobo/proccy had problems and my athlon is with service center so now i have an option to stick with it or sell them off and get an APU so that it covers full 3yrs of warranty

doing so i have all options open so thought to give a little boost in gaming power with better IGP
what is the difference between A55 and A75 IGP

i was more inclined towards trinity so i can wait for a month and have a go with it

RAM are dirt cheap and these can be installed any time in future

I cant find GIGABYTE-A75M-S2V anywhere online

Hope i am not bugging you too much

Major difference between the two chipsets --
  • Fewer SATA ports on the A55 based solution, A75 has more of them and the newer SATA III version in-case you need it;
  • Lack of USB 3.0 ports;
  • Lack of HDMI and Display Port, output connectors;
  • Fewer DIMM's for RAM (very important considering APU iGP performance is solely dictated by RAM quality).
As for the motherboard I had mentioned here, it is very expensive for what is on offer --> GA A75M S2V GIGABYTE LLANO MOTHERBOARD.

And here is the MSi motherboard I had mentioned earlier --> Theitdepot - MSI A75MA-G55 32GB DDR3 AMD Motherboard>

No you are not bugging me, chill out.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

OK point taken

i think i can wait for a month and look for FM2 socket combo as spending around 8k doesnt make much sense when we know that the product will be outdated in just a month time (After trinity launch)
I know we dont have any official price for trinity but which combo should i look in my range

Hope we dont see FM3 news in few months ... LOL

----
if i look with different prospective then i can hold my athlon combo and add a GPU in 2.5k range then what are my options

Go for an AMD HD6670 / HD5670 and you shall be set. The GPU's themselves will cost ~4000/- -->5500/- but the performance should be better than the APU based solution(s) we are looking at for now.

If you can hold till Trinity release in India and bump this thread up then, we can help make a more informed choice.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

I think i will hold for trinity to release as spending 8k on it doesnt make much sense also adding GPU will will not help too much as the PC wont be used much and i would be devoid of extended warranty in case of new setup

tried to rep you but failed .. NTS (need to spread)

I agree.I have Llano based rig.Its good no doubt but not future proof.I can play all games at medium but at high . . . nah.
Also you can add a gpu to work with the onboard gpu but I or anyone here will prefer a dedicated gpu rather than onboard gpu.

I would suggest get a Amd/Intel base rig with a dedicated gpu.

thanks for the advice but i dont want to spend much on this PC as i can play any game on extreme graphics on my main rig
This will be for my sister who will play games when she is free [girls dont get much times to spend on PC games ... lol] and i am doing it to just let her know that her pc is upgraded and she can play more games now with better graphics

would you be interested in selling your combo ... if yes then PM details

Hello Kartik, I have been off for a month and now I am back. Here is what I would suggest --
AMD A6-3500 ~4500/- (Llano as I do not see Trinity in India)
MSi-A75M-GD55 ~6000/- (a better board overall)
Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3200/-
FSP Saga II 400W ~2100/- (only available at TechShop.in)
[rest as you see fit]

Another option is --
Intel Core i3 3220 ~6500/-
GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500/-
Corsair Vengeance 4GB x1 1600MHz ~1700/- (add another RAM module for dual-channel benefits)
AMD HD6770 ~7000/- (might be cheaper on street but flipkart.com pricing is atrocious)
[rest as you see fit]

Hope this helps. Cheers!
