My Wagon R (2005 model) battery conked off recently under mysterious circumstances :S I had to call the maruti helpline and jump start the car, but the minute they left and I tried to start the car, it failed. I called them again and left the engine running for about 30 mins hoping that it would charge the battery, it didn't do any good and finally I had to remove the battery, took it to a battery shop and left it charged for 1 day. Its a Exide OEM battery and after the charging its seems to be running fine, but I am afraid it might go down again when I am least expecting it and I'll be stuck. So I decided to get a battery jumper cable for any emergency situation, so that at least if the battery conks off again, i'll be able to jump start the vehicle from a second car.

But I couldn't find any jumper cable in any automobile shop, found one but I was quoted 800 bucks :S I have read that the jumper cable should be about 4 gauge, so can I go to any electrical store and get a 4 gauge cable and make a jumper cable?

Anyone tried it or any inputs on the cable specs?

Hmmm.....I also have come to the same conclusion, better get a new battery.

BTW, does anyone know the thickness of a 4 gauge wire in mm ?

x Gauge = x mm ???
