Do you really think origin is doing that badly? Origin is no steam but I think it's doing ok as a game marketplace.

Also the deals are pretty good. Dead Space and BF3 are really great games.

No, it's not doing badly as such, many people are forced to install Origin for the latest EA games, but it's nowhere close to Steam. Right now at this moment there are 5 million logged in, with a peak of 8 million users yesterday. It's not just a game distribution platform, but a market, trading forum, indie game publisher platform, screen casting platform, upcoming OS etc etc. EA has seen what a good digital platform can achieve, and now it wants in.
