We have been having quite a few disputes on sales and a bit too often for anyone's liking or comfort.
TE market used to be a place for mutial benefit of members but it's hounded by petty people/dealers for petty gains these days.
This is personal request to everyone to be very very careful and very cautious and alert while buying anything from anyone-
irrespective of their join date, post count, reps or itrust score.
Please do not jump at deals , especially those that may potray a cheap deal and skip on posting important details about age, warranty, specs, clear pics and any other important information.
If a seller is not keen on replying to any queries or providing any proper details, especially even after asking for the same, please move away and do not test your luck just cause the price may seem so low.
Most cases that have gone bad are similar.
And sometimes, even if a case seems ok, we can still falter.

He sold an item with absolutely wrong details and even provided a bill that wasn't genuine.
The entire process took a period of 2 weeks or more, till i received the psu, via via some friends.
And till the time i got it in my hand and some days after that, the seller effectively kept clarifying all queries/doubts in a very friendly manner and kept negating any query/remark that hinted at some wrongdoing.
Even after being directly queried on the origin of the product regularly, the seller kept denying all direct/indirect/clear hints at why the details may not be true as declared in the sale thread, the PMs and during telephonic conversations.
The seller went to the extent of producing a nice detailed bill to support the false claims- which was either made by him or got made from some regular dealer of his.
After getting the psu and almost confirming my doubt and having collected proof to confirm my doubts- i kept hinting and hoping he will accept his mistake but he kept beating around the bush.
I did have some very powerful evidence that i didn't want to use as i didn't want to involve others and trouble them and wanted to collect proof in facts and prove the wrongdoing with the same.
I didn't want to this to go the usual itrader -ve rating way and kept hoping that better sense will prevail and this guy will confess and hence i kept postponing a thread on this til a very long time.
It didn't make me angry but only very hurt thinking how could people go to such extreme lengths to cover up lies spoken earlier- especially when they seemed so nice and from cultured and well-educated backgrounds.
The seller finally called back and accepted his mistake and duly apologised and tried to assure me that it was the first and last time he had done such a thing.
He said that since he didn't have a bill for some items, he had requested some regular dealer to add the items to some later purchase or something like that.
I am still not clear or convinced about the exact reason or method for the same.
He has refunded/EFTed the money a day or 2 back and am very grateful to the seller for the same.
I have the psu packed up at my place and am checking for any friends headed towards where the seller lives and can drop this off there.
I couldn't have given an almost 3 years old psu to a friend whom i had assured that a year old psu for 5K and that too an HX620 is a better buy over a new VX550.
And neither could i have kept anything from an untruthful person, even if it was for free.
Maybe i was just plain lucky or my habit of asking as many questions as possible, screenies, pics, contact info, etc saved me.
I am not sure if anyone else, especially some newer person would have found it till much later or too late, especially when they needed to rma it.
here is the entire tale from my end and i have tried to present all facts as correctly as possible.
It's a bit too long as usual- sorry- but please do read it.
Even posting this here has made me sad all over again and i consulted many seniors if i should post or not as i don't want anyone to take this negatively.
Even my mother had asked me why i looked down but i passed it off as fatigue and maybe slight illness.
And i still fail to understand why such things happen.

here is the entire tale from my end and i have tried to present all facts as correctly as possible.
It's a bit too long as usual- sorry- but please do read it.
I saw the sale thread by vriship for a Dell E228 at 8K and a June 2009 bought HX620 at 5.9K.
I was immediately interested as a friend was looking for a new psu and a new lcd but expected a lil drop in the pricing.
When i saw the price drop on the psu to 5250/- shipped, I PMed vriship immediately, expressing my keen interest in both.
A day later he PMed asking about my status on the same as he had confirmed buyers in line, especially for the psu.
I duly apologised and told him that the psu was a surity but i wasn't sure about the lcd as what my friend will get dfinally- a 24 or 20 or 22HD or 22non-HD.
And stated that i hadn't PMed yet as i wanted to confirm both as that was a decent monitor.
So told him that hold the psu for sure- if my friend doesn't take it, i will pay for sure- i was that sure about the hx620.
I also told him that my frnd was planning a VX450 but i was trying to squeeze in a VX550 as i prefer 2x PCIe connectors, especially as he has a 4870.
Also since his the hx620 is quite new- bought in June 2009 as per the sale thread- i was quite hopeful my friend would be ok with buying a used product based on my judgement.
The initial few days i asked a lot of queries via PM and even apologised for asking so much.
The sale thread didn't have much details anyways.
I asked about age, warranty, bought from, if bill there or not, box not there acknowledged but other accessories available or not, etc
He said he had bought it from a local dealer in Thane and all seemed ok.
I also inquired if he had the 8-pin(/6+2 pin) PCIe cables or did he order them later as those who didn't had mailed Corsair who sent it for free.
he replied he only had 6-pin cables.
That is what triggered a little confusion and the first hint of doubt,
as i have bought and installed quite a few HX620s, own an HX620 and sold 2x HX620 and discussed the same with the few HX620 owners on TE.
I had some 2007 end models that had 6+2 pin PCie connectors native
Then how come a 2009 model didn't have that.
Then around the same time, it also struck me that Gannu and me were selling HX620 around the same time and had even discussed the sale and prices then.
And somehow i feebly remembered that vriship was the one who had bought it finally.
A quick search on TE confirmed it- Gannu had an Aug 2007 HX620 that vriship bought in Oct 2009 iirc.
And then began a rather unwanted and unfortunate doubt in my mind,
which also irritated me a lot as i felt i was unnecessarily doubting someone who had already posted clearly that it was bought much recently in June 2009.
After being bugged by it for a day or two and contemplating if i should ask him or not,
coz i didn't want to doubt him just on the basis of a wild unfounded fear and offend him in the process, i finally asked him, on phone.
(By this time our interactions were mostly on phone and we even discussed other sales, h/w etc and he was very friendly and nice all the time)
He said that this was not the same one and that the Gannu one was sold or bought for or given to some friend- something like that iirc.
I said to myself that i am worrying unnecessarily and moved on to the details on payment and pickup.
I requested a little more discount as shipping was avoided in my case and he graciously offered the psu for 5.1K first and then 5K, provided i pickup from his place.
It was not feasible for me to go to Thane but i had some cash/EFT coming in from a TE friend who was also headed this way that weekend.
I told vriship that one guy from Thane owed a friend some money for some stuff i had sold on TE recently,
and i will request him to divert a part of it in cash to him and also pickup the psu and get it along.
It looked like a good plan, especially when vriship informed me that they had interacted earlier and that guy also knew his place.
The tentative date was set for any day between Thu, 1st April and Sat 3rd April, as that person was waiting for his salary to get credited to his account.
I also told him that it's better that he gets paid first and then only hands over the psu, as is the norm with TE deals.
He also was very courteous and said that there is no hurry for the money.
I still informed him that if he needs money urgently, i will get it EFTed asap.
But the payment+pickup got delayed and that friend's visit was getting postponed too and i couldn't delay my friend's pc due to my issues.
But then another guy from Thane seemed headed this way the very next day or so as he had to pick up some stuff i owed him.
It was 6th April mostly or was it 5th- mostly 6th i feel.
I called up vriship and told him it will be very kind of him if he can let the 1st guy pickup the psu and drop it off at the 2nd guy's place,
so that 2nd guy may get it along and the pc doesn't get delayed any further.
Vriship was nice and agreed and also said that he was also gonna say the same, that i get the psu picked up,
as he may head out of town for a few days if plans work out as it was his bday the next day.
I wished him in advance him and also thanked him a lot and requested him to PM me a photo of the bill so that i can show it to my friend and also send me his account info for EFT.
I am not sure now if the pic was sent before pickup or after but the psu got picked up without me having paid him.
When i saw the price for the hx620 as 8.9K, i was shocked and PMed immediately as how did he buy it so high as it was never ever that high.
He had replied that he had checked price on TE too before he bought it and it was more feasible to buy it locally than from lammy.
Then also added that maybe the price was high as ... - a reason i find unmentionable here.
The 2nd guys' trip got cancelled and i decided to temporarily install a VX450 i had picked up for another friend or my hx620 and give away the pc.
Then vriship's trip got cancelled and he also wanted money asap as he had to pay for something he bought suddenly and called me up to EFT it if possible.
The other guy who had picked up the psu and was keeping it till he came here hadn't got his pay yet till the previous day.
So before doing an EFT, i decided to check one more time and he said he got his salary and will pay vriship on his way back home from work that very evening.
They interacted between themselves that day and just before vriship arrived at a common place, my friend called up to tell me that he was waiting and will pay as soon as vriship arrives.
The next day i checked with vriship if he had got his amount.
All seemed ok.
My friend came with the psu on 10th morning.
I had to ready some stuff for him and the day went by in attending to other stuff and i left for the meet.
Came back late sat night and sunday also almost went by.
I then opened the package to inspect the psu.
3 things struck me instantly and then everything seemed weird.
(1) The cables-
All the flat modular cables were zip-tied and that also seemed ok till i noticed the 2x 6-pin PCie vcables.
They seemed like someplace out of my memory.
I checked Gannu's 620 sale pics and they looked almost the same or may i say almost identical- tied with fat zip ties.
(2) The serial number-
It looked rather odd for a 2009 psu- R0701... .
Unfortunately, i couldn't recollect or dig up the serial nos for the HX620s i had.
I ran a search for all corsair psus on TE and other forums and was unable to establish a concrete pattern but there definitely seemed like one.
But some VX450s bought in 2009 had the first 4 digits as R0904... , resembling the year and month or year and week as in AMD cpu steppings.
So i called up a few friends who had HX620 and asked them to provide me their serial numbers.
The 2 hx620s i got the numbers for were from Prime; one in Nov2007 and one in Dec 2007 and their serial nos ended with only a digit apart and both began with R0708.
(3) the bill- dated 12-06-2009.
It had 5 items and they all looked like stuff he had owned and i was sort of aware of too having been a market mole for quite sometime.
I had also known faintly that vriship had a history of buying/shopping stuff for friends too maybe.
But the chronology of his purchases and sales seemed weird to me, if they were the same items as in the bill that he had sold.
I too have purchased many similar items several times and hence even my friends cannot exactly pinpoint which exact item i maybe selling at any given point of time.
So this cannot be used as concrete proof and had to give him the benefit of the doubt then.
The bill had a X4 9550+ Gigabyte 780G combo and vriship had also sold one such combo once.
If it is the same combo, the sale thread for it was just a few months after the bill/purchase date and the sale thread mentioned about 2 yrs warranty left.
Something that new couldn't have been put that way if not older.
There is a Gecube 4870 and i faintly remebered that he had bought it used from TE maybe a search indicated so.
But then again, not concrete proof as per me as i too have bought multiple units of same items- some new, some used.
Gigabyte X58 Extreme- This was weird too.
If this was for him, he had that X4 rig till he sold it in Q4 2009 and then got an i5+asus P55 that he sold in some months and went i7+x58 sometime this year.
I was indeed very sad and gloomy and hurt over this entire period.13-04-2010 evening/night- A PM in discussion with gurus/mods-
"He had denied the psu being gannu's and a 2007 one today morning as reported in the first PM.
he called several times in the morning but i had gone to sleep by then.
I tried calling many times later in the noon but his phone was off.
I called him at around 7:30pm and kept hinting several times that it maybe a 2007 or it maybe gannu's, describing the serial number, ziptied cables etc
He said the serial number maybe so as the dealer may have had very old stock that never sold.
In the morning or maybe in the evening phone convo, i even asked him if it was possible that since he had 2 hx 620s, the new one went to his friend by mistake and the older Gannu one was left behind and came to me now.
But he kept saying bought in 2009, gannu's was bought, tested and given away to friend for whom it was bought.
He said he had seen gannu's PCIe cable and ziptied his the same way when he got this one later.
Also said no issue, warranty from sale as bought in 2009 and if any issue later, he will confront the dealer and scold him and get some compensation and pass it on to me, etc etc
I kept prodding many times but no use.
But he did sound a lil down this time
Then, i was on sms chat with a friend who was looking for the bill for the same.
since i was almost sure it was Gannu's and bought from Prime, i could have called them up and asked them to send me a duplicate bill as they keep a log of all sales.
But i really didn't want to go that far and involve a 3rd party- but would have to if need be.
Then vriship called again approx an hr after i had called.
Told me he wanted to tell me something.
I told him i was waiting for it.
He told me he was feeling very guilty and it was the first and only mistake he had done and how he couldn't have his dinner, etc etc
The reasons he gave for that fake bill, which he says he got done from some local dealer he and his parents buy stuff from regularly, still don't seem so genuine or convincing to me.
But he admitted and apologised and asked me to forgive him and not be angry and will accept any punishmment , etc.
I told him i wasn't angry but very hurt over how someone who seemed so nice and friendly could go to the extent of faking a bill to cover lies over a silly matter.
He also asked me to see if anyone else wants that psu or something.
I told him that it's better he refunds my money and looks for a buyer locally or starts a thread on TE with the correct details."
Even posting this here has made me sad all over again and i consulted many seniors if i should post or not as i don't want anyone to take this negatively.
Even my mother had asked me why i looked down but i passed it off as fatigue and maybe slight illness.
And i still fail to understand why such things happen.
