Been Out Of Gaming For A While

Hello,

So I have been out of gaming for quite a while thanks to exams and all.
For around a year or so I have been out. You could say from like the end of 2008 or so.

What are the top games since that period that I have missed out on? Which ones should I go and buy?

I am thinking of:

So the games I am thinking of buying

1. Battleid Bad Company 2?
2. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2?
3. Left 4 Dead 2?
4. ???

I can only buy 4 games at the moment unless the prices are really cheap... Mass Effect 2? Dirt 2? Something else?
Bring on the suggestions and do post the prices here in New Delhi.
What's the cheapest place to buy original games here in New Delhi?

It would be better if you gave us the specifications of your PC.

For starters I'd like to tell you to Play Assassins Creed 1 & 2. Have personally finished 1 and it had a pretty good story.

BUY L4D2 only if you like playing Co-op multiplayer games.

That's the order u can take, BC2 and Dirt 2 are the best, then comes MW2 and L4D2, ME2 was a big disappointment.
 
My computer is pretty up to date so it can play all.

I guess BC2 is a must buy then! As is MW2 and L4D2! Great...

As for Assassins Creed - Does it matter if I buy Assassins Creed 2 withouth playing 1?
Same question for Mass Effect...
 
So many suggestions already given and id like to say most are right. I hate racing games (except road rash and burnout) so cant say about DiRT 2, though i have played it and it has awesome graphics!

I'd recommend playng Bioshock 2 if you have played bio 1, its an ok-ish game, not as aweosme as bio 1 (well it doesnt add too much acc to me).

Don't believe a person who says mass effect 2 is a disappointment, it prolly is the best game releaqsed this year for the PC (better than ass creed 2) and has a terrific storyline and so many endings, like 2-3 times u can play this game easy.

i played Ass ceed 1 for near 8 hours, after that i felt it was repeatitive and all so left it. Just a week back i was playing Ass creed 2, it is far better than 1 and as i dunno the story of AC1 much, i can pretty much say its worth playing even if you havent played AC1. Would be best if you play witha 360 controller (i love mine lol).

for MEffect i would really suggest playing ME1, not only for the story (you would not understand 20% or so things if u dont play ME1 first and jump onto ME2) but also ME1 was one the the finest games (believe me <3). I've beat both the games twice and yeah its THAT good.

and BTW you would really wanna buy orange box (650 ruppes?) for orange box, its one of the finest games at the moment <3 better than L4D2 for me, moreover valve updates this game more than any of its games past or present, and actually its seriously aweosme!

I just bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2. So one game down...

What is the best place to buy games in South Delhi?

I couldn't find CoD 4: MW2 anywhere! Or Mass Effect 2 or Assassins Creed 2 or Empire: Total War...

Honestly speaking, it was made just TOO cluttered, unlike the 1st part, I almost felt I was being over-stuffed and everything was so different from ME1. I was hoping for some similar gameplay.

Mouse aiming and control sucks, a true CONSOLE PORT, true, consoles are killing PC gaming!
 
I would recommend Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age and Assassins Creed 2. MW2 isn't as great as MW and does not deserve more than one play through unlike the the first one which I played about 20 odd times. So unless for multi-player, don't bother buying it.
 
If you like RPGs then Dragon Age : Origins , Mass Effect 2 and The Witcher Enhanced Edition are essential. Consider buying Borderlands over L4D2,RE5 and Cod MW2.

You've already got BC2 so I suggest you skip MW2.

Assassin's Creed 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum would also be excellent choices.

If you want an RTS then go for Warhammer 40k : Dawn of War2-Chaos Rising rather than Emipre Total War.
 
^^ Forget MW2. Even Total War series is not that great for me at least. never liked the TBS elements in the game.

Would strongly recommend trying Dragon Age, AC2 and Mass Effect 2 if you want some single player fun.
 
1) Mass Effect 2
2) Borderlands
3) Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (for the multiplayer mainly)
4) Batman: Arkham Asylum

That should keep you busy till Starcraft 2 comes out and then Diablo 3.

So marks the beginning of your gaming and the end of your social life. hehehe
