Beginners guide to over clocking of E4300 + ASUS P5NE SLI @ Stock Cooling

I am myself a new when it comes to over clocking and am writing it for all those people who just want to try overclocking for the first time with little idea about it.

Configration Used :

CPU – E4300

Motherboard – ASUS P5NE SLI

RAM – KINGSTON 2X1 GB 667 MHZ

PSU – AMIGO AMPS500AP

XFX 8500GT GPU

[BREAK=Things To Remember]

Things to keep in mind.

Don’t take the Vcore Volatge over – 1.35000

Be patient , if there is a boot failure the motherboard will ask you to enter the bios and switch back to the normal settings that were before.

Once you over clock run stability tests from orthos for a few hours I ran them for 20 mins in my first over clock to 2 ghz till 8 hrs for the 2.4 ghz ( you will get the software by searching over google easily and ).

Get Core Temps to keep a check on your tempratures.

[FONT=&quot]Make sure the temps don’t go over 65 c on load if they do you need to either under clock , get a better heatsink , add AS5 , more fans in the cabinet.

[BREAK=Bios and Over Clocking]

Enter the Bios the main page will look something like this.

Enter into the advance section of the bios which will look something like this

Now Select the JumperFree Configration option. The main page on jumper free looking like this.

Now Select the AI TUNING AS - MANUAL

After this entering the system clocks select the NB PCIE AS 105

here is the snap for the same.

After this come back to the JumperFree Configuration page , enter into the Voltage Control Section. Be sure you dont give excess volts you can fry your cpu. the maximum being 1.3500 . I selected 1.33750 as you can see in the snap below , leaving the rest at AUTO

[BREAK=Memory & FSB]

Now from the JumperFree Configuration enter into the FSB & Memory Config. now unlink the memory clock mode so that you can over clock your ram and cpu separately. the setting in the snap will make your processor reach till 2.4 ghz ie 1066Mhz.

though i recommend to start with smaller FSB number. the number you select in the FSB / 4 * 9 will give you the CPU SPEED.

EG 1066 / 4 - 266 * 9 = 2.4 GHZ

i have left the ram untouched as of now , but one can over clock that to till 800mhz without much problems.

here is the snap

after this come to the main advance page again and select the CHIPSET option

under which set the ram timings. incase you have a good ram rated at certain timings choose that. i chose - 5 - 5 -5 - 15 @ 2T

snap

rest the left on auto.

SAVED the bios Booted and Yipee its all working :hap2:.

ran orthos for 20 mins then 3 hours and then 8 hours . In the delhi heat with the ac the temps were close to 50 c without the AC went upto 55c but normally were at 53 c without the AC.

here is a snap of the OC and a look at the temps with the WCG client running. i think one can go further on stock cooling as you will seen some might have even gone further. i did not because i was a little worried about temps will do onces i get in more fans and some as5 treatment.

i recommended you to even read these thread guides to increase the success rate of your over clocks and get some more idea.

the over clock results would vary from person to person some might get higher temps some lower, its just a basic idea as to what is to be done.

few things :

1. Donot Increase the Vcore if its not necessary, Increase only if u can't go any higher then the current OC u got

2. Reduce the image sizes to something say 800*600...makes em easier to load and see

3. Try running 266*9 at stock Vcore should work fine

EDIT : any particular reason for increasing the PCIE Frequency from 100 to 105?

i have posted a screen shot of after the overclock did not feel like under clocking it again. the V CORE voltages were set at auto by default and at this setting i found my temps under controls and the pc running stable, thus i chose this setting. i know i can go further and keep temps below 65 but i want my pc running cooler and i will do this after getting better cooling solutions for my self. i increased the PCIE from 100 - 105 as i at these settings my windows loaded properly and ran before that it failed orthos ram n cpu blend test after 40 mins or so.

i can do little about the pics dude i have already shrunked 4 mb files in sub 1mb files. i am bad at photography .

^^ So where'd u read abt increasing pcie freq would work?

and reduce the resolution of the image and then post em....that'll reduce the size of the image

i read about it on anandtech and xs in quite a few thread looking at their settings for the over clock plus in the end also i have posted a few links which i think others should read. the anandtech one i did not post as its very huge and most of the times one gets confused kinds. i will do something about the pics soon.
