Storage Solutions BenQ 1640 causes BSODs

Not meaning to hijack your thread Wraith, but my 1640 seems to have screwed up.

Its giving me BSOD's as soon as I insert a blank/written CD/DVD (even Digit DVD's, etc..)

Funky told me that the head was gone and to get it replaced, I'm waiting for a second opinion though. TechHead, help !

Luckily I waited before going for a D burner.... My 2 sony's are still going well... No probs thus far...

If u have Nero....try uninstalling it and then check if u are having any problems....

Also try and change the ide cable...a faulty cable can also lead to BSOD's

And ditch Nero 7.... it sucks..... Nero 6 is waaaaay better.

Nero 7 sounds more uber , I'll go back to Nero 6 Ultra and try then...

^6 ultra. What does the BSOD say? Also, as the others said, change IDE cable, then try.

Hmm.. on my new HDD now, with new IDE cable/ports, etc.

What should I install, Nero 6 Ultra / Nero 7 Ultra ?
