I just got my new benq dw 1640 dvd writer a few questions

1.How do i check which firmware i have and do i need any upgradation ?

2.Also which media should i use will princo work fine ?

3.What is solidburn technology ?

Hey forum,

Is the BENQ 1640 the "BEST" DVD writer-in-town:period

REALLY WANT 2 KNOW That from Experienced Person,WHO OWNS the Thing or HAS the Adequate knowledge!!

Bcoz, earlier on ,abt 6-7 months back, upon advice from the tech-masters @ TA,I bought a Benq 1620 pro(which was the BEST then),WHICH BUT DEVELOPED PROBLEM of Both Reading or Writing anything at all,Within the very FIRST MONTH!!!(Got it Replaced though)

So,even if,i am eyeing the 1640 now,but still afraid of my BITTER previous exp.

& hence Now,Do BENQ 1640 represent a SAFE-BUY???

for the firmware just check nero infotool under the "drive" tab

SolidBurn is a proprietary technology that ensures optimal writing conditions for any recordable DVD+/-R media. Additionally, this advanced technology allows enhanced over-speed burning 4x or 8x DVD+/-R media at 8x or higher speeds.

Check the Event Viewer and see if any errors reported at time of reboot.

To me it seems possibly a Windows file is corrupted which when accessed creates the problem.

Install ASPI layer drivers and see if that helps. These are free... get them here...
