I need to urgently buy 2 pen drive's (8 & 16GB capacity).

Which is the best brand ?

Is HP good ?

I have head negative reports about transcend ?

Lastly - should I get it from Flipkart or ebay ?

^^ Get Corsair Voyager OR Survivor type pendrives though a little expensive they carry life time warranty and boast of good write speeds.

for what purpose will you be using the pen drives?

If you are gonna buy PNY i suggest you take a look at snapdeal also.. saw some good offers recently
 
If you want fast drives, yet not too expensive, get transcend 700 series 8GB and 16GB drives. They are USB3.0 and offers really great speeds. Available at fk and lb.

i dont think corsair honors more than 5 years warranty of flash drives. I had many voyagers myself, and after rma, it came in an enclosure written, 3 years warranty in print. Also its stated as 5 years on prime product specs. SO they wont be honoring more than 5 years, which make them same as transcend and sandisk, but definitely can survive more intense abuse.

Durability: COrsair> HP~PNY> Transcend> Sandisk > local brands

Speed: Transcend(700 or 600 series)> COrsair voyagers usb3> HP> Kingston normal series> sandisk > local

transcend 600 and 700 series, even though premium products of transcend, is priced similar to other leading brans like corsair and hp, but offers much better speeds. corsair is all rounder with almost as good speeds as transcend and with great build quality. Sandisk is an allrounder looser as they offer worst speeds, and mostly built with 99% plastic has the worst built qialuty IMO.
 
Thanks guys..... Will definately be looking at the USB 3 series from Corsair & HP and let's see pick from both brands.
 
+1 for corsair. Go for the new USB 3.0 drives. Big plus is that you actually know that u have it, every other brand is light and can be easily misplaced/forgotten.
 
Be careful as i heard there are many fake transcend products (especially microSD cards) floating in the market. But i am unsure as to the flash disk part. Why dont you go for CORSAIR which gives more warranty and good performance when compared with its counterparts (kingston, transcend and sandisk) ??
