Best Broadband in Pune

Hello guys,
for last 3 years I've been using BSNL bb (750 UL plan) with their "ok" service. Im sick of those common probs like ADSL link being not stable... Moreover they shoot their all time favorite answer "sir, aap ki ghari ki line main problem hai"... Now I want to get rid of this pathetic (yet most popular..!:bleh:) Bb Isp in pune..

So friends, please suggest me a good broadband Isp in Pune (kothrud/karvenagar area).. Tata Indicom, Hathway, Sify, Airtel or anything else ??? I don't know which one is good?

PLEASE HELP....

Regards.

airtel broadband doesn't have one decent tariff plan. SO, it's out of question. Infact, I disconnected my airtel broadband yesterday. :|

Second best option is Reliance broadband which I'm gonna apply for today itself.

My third preference would be TATA Indicom.

Then Hathway.

Lastly Sify.

...in that order. :p

Hey dude.. in which area you live ? Is Reliance bb really good ? Over Tata Indicom ? I thought Tata would be best... Never seen much people speaking of Reliance BB...

Well, they're gonna install my Reliance broadband connection tomorrow. IMO, Reliance broadband > TATA Indicom broadband. TATA Indicom broadband is insanely costly.

iChaitanya do update once the connection is live! I am from Hyd and using Reliance and here its pretty good, want to know if it's good in pune too coz some relatives are there in pune and were asking for my opinion.

I used to always recommend Airtel broadband but now it's the exact opposite.....

I think Tata Indicom have stopped giving new connections for home users, they only have plans for corporate users.

Dont know whether Reliance has improved , they had ripped me off for 500 plus gave false assurance that my line will be repaired which they didnt for 2 months . The worst part was that they sent me bills for 3 months after disconnection and demanded to be paid. I will never trust Reliance, let alone the pathetic connection issues and connectivity.

By the way Tata indicom is the best way to go it does not throttle P2p stable conn tough a bit costly but worth

Airtel too throttles p2p

I currently have BSnl 2nd tata which is not available in my area con is that as of 2 -3 weeks they are having some connection issues

+1 last time I called TATA Indicom CC they did confirm that we do not give personal connections. Where as my friend who stays in Pune was able to obtain a personal connection last month with a plan that isn't listed on the website :S

Well, the connection was installed within a day after filling up the CAF and it's pretty good. Browsing is 2x fast as compared to my previous airtel 1 Mbps (maybe due to Reliance's routing via FLAG). Everything feels snappy! :p

I'm on the 1 Mbps UL @ 1099 plan and I'm geting 140-150 KBps while downloading from HF premium. :eek:hyeah:

The best part: Truly UL connection without any FUP! I also liked their IVR based complaint registration.

The only issue with this damn connection is... you can't stream any videos.

Even YouTube 360p vids buffer a lot and get stuck after every 5 seconds. :S

But, I'm gonna get this video streaming issue fixed soon.

If you are using Chrome, try Youtube in Firefox. I'm on 2Mbps and still Chrome buffers when nothing except the video is playing :S Just my 2 cents.

iChaitanya thanks for the update, I am also using reliance wired line connection a ADSL based, regarding youtube buffering I never used to have the problems with 360p and 480p videos but from the last 3-4 days a lot of buffering is happening with youtube but I tested with other sites and they are loading fine so it seems there is a temp problem with youtube or some routing issue, this started after the problems in egypt started the internet blocking don't know how they are linked but I am speculating.

Regarding reliance broadband quality with the browsing speed and latency I agree with you it's top notch I agree with this article Quality of internet connection - Tech2buzz.com and guess we should give a thought when we take an new internet connection.

Regarding the buffering problems, have you guys seen the recent tips about avoiding using OpenDNS/GoogleDNS and using your ISPs regular DNS and retrying?

Apparently if you use google/open dns, the content providers try to stream the data from the location nearest the DNS servers location and not your location, so the performance drops...

Can anyone tell me what the ISPs pesky " Divide by 8 " unspoken rule is. Damn they talk so sweet while giving out the connection, failing to inform this "/8"

Also I had seen a board regarding stating something "Quality (or assurance ) of service" of various BB plans in one of the BSNL offices where, all the commercial plans were having 90% , home plans above 1000 and the night plans having 80% while others having like 60%

Tata broadband is decent. I have the same. They have a 100gig fup and reliance does not have fup (i think). tata are a bit expensive but they have decent uptime and their service does not suck outright. I would love a connection without fup but reliance fixed line people are not ready to pull a wire from where they are to my house.
