I will have to get a new motherboard, Processor and RAM next month (Dec 3rd or 4th week) once I give the current E6300, MSI P965 and the RAM to my sis. I will be getting myself an E6600. Planning to spend another 30k for the Motherboard and RAM.

Whats the best I can get?

I am looking for a feature rich (lotz of bells and whistles :P), rock stable and the best performing board. I am not looking to break any Super PI, SuperPrime or Overclock records here :hap5: . A 24/7 stable overclock of 3 GHz is good enough for me.

I have started shortlisting some boards from the ones available in India at the moment and arrived at these.

1. Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6

2. Asus P5B Deluxe / WiFi-AP (Is the WiFi Edition available locally)

3. Asus P5B Deluxe

4. Asus P5W Deluxe /WiFi-AP

Can someone give me the current market prices of these boards.

Are the nVidia 680i boards available in India yet?

Asus Striker is out of question as even if its available that $400 price tag would translate to 25~27k in India. The other 680i board is Asus P5N32-E SLI. Not sure whether its available in India yet. Is there any other Premium feature rich board for C2D available in India for around 15k.

The second and more major thing I have to see is the RAM. Whats the best 2 GB RAM Kit that fits my budget (say 15k)? I would have preferred to purchase from India had the RAM prices not been on the rise.

I have a Credit Card and willing to purchase from Memory-Configurator.com provided I do not have hassles with customs and all. Need some advise on customs hassles and about warranty. Should I consider that there is no warranty in such a purchase or it there any cost effective way for claiming warranty if required.

Asus P5B Deluxe is not more than 16k aprox. I'd choose Gigabyte model, anyway read all user reviews about the boards you're interested in.

For your requirements i would go for P5WDH wifi AP.

No matter what 975X board at clock to clock will be faster than the P965boards.

The new P5WDH are also clocking well.

For E6600 its perfect board for normal 24x7 operation. Even 3.2-3.4Ghz 24x7 is no big deal.

For now stay away from 680i boards. Its rough platform as of now. And people are having countless issues with it. It will make sense after 3-4 months.

P5WDH is feature rich board and its under 15k as well.

As for memory, in india you dont have many choices.

And good quality memory is not exactly cheap even abroad. If you have the budget get 2 gigs of DDR2 800 cellshock or Teams Xtreem Series.

i suggest u buy funky's combo ......ull save cash on the E6600 and RAM. and he might give u a some discount if u buy it both together :P

but the thing is u hv to buy like after a month ...hmmm then for ram the best bet will be some value transcend or corsair with decent chips. those will be the best 2gb kits that u can get in india and within ur budget.

for the mobo i also suggest the P5WDH and again if u want to save cash you can go for darkys msi pu edition.

EDIT : and if u really dont care bout bechies then do this,

get a E6300 + P5B DELUXE + some sexy ram from memory oc :)

that will be in ur budget as the difference in cache is not noticeable in real world apps.

P5B Dlx Wifi was available at Rashi for 12.8K the last I checked. I dont see the point in you buying 6600 if you are planning on only 3 G??? Whats the point in these fancy mobos, good RAM and 6600 if thats all you want? I can do 3.15 with E6300, P5B Dlx and Corsair value RAM easily with minimal increase in volts. I am running on aforementioned speed 24*7

I picked up a P5B-WiFi Deluxe for 13500 about a month or so back. It might be even lesser now....
Cheers,

E6600,6700,6800,Kentsfield = any 975 based board or 680i based one

E6300,6400,Conroe-L = any 965 based board you like.

Its that simple....

Since you said you are getting 6600,i suggest Asus P5W-DH

P5W-DH sucks :P. Show me one close to 4GHz screenie on that board and i'll shut up :P. P5B clocks way way better. I'd only buy the ABIT AW9D MAX or P5WS64 Pro if i were to get a 975 mobo. Rest are waste :P. For ram, you can order from memory configurator. Just get a paypal acct first, link it to ur cc and use that... Lot easier :P. Also make sure u order by DHL and ask Jakob to mark the package as 50 euro. No customs hassles then. About what to get? Cellshock PC2 8000 4-4-4 obviously :D.

I suggest Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi AP for 13k & Cellshock DDR2 800 2GB Kit from 2Gb CellShock DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz (4-4-4-12) Dual Channel kit it will cost you 256 Euro+30 Euro shipping+Rs. 800 customs = Rs. 17674

thus your total will be Rs. 30674

I did not suggest the Cellshock DDR2 1000 2GB Kit as it had costed Chaos 315 Euro+30 Euro shipping+Rs. 800 customs = Rs. 21155 & now the Cellshock DDR2 1000 2GB Kit costs 327 Euro+30 Euro shipping+Rs. 800 customs = Rs. 21863

that would have made your total Rs. 34863

1 Euro = Rs. 59 now

Well, agreed that Asus P5W-DH isnt an insane clocker or anything BUT,the person asking isnt buying a board purely for overclocking.;) He needs a stable platform and all the bells and whistles, which WDH delivers.
Now if you still say that P5WDH sucks even at stock speeds then i have nothing more to say......
Although OC potential is an important factor when it comes to deciding a high end board, its not the only one.
And Chaos, comeon you portray P5WDH as bad as unable to clock even a single MHz,which surely is NOT the case.
Please remember that P5W-DH is based on 975 which is known for its tight latencies and hence lower FSB scaling. 965 is known for High FSB at the expense of loose latencies. So it's not that the board itself is responsible for its low clocking potential.....;)

I hope you get my point...:)

@ chaos. lol new p5wdh are clocking really well. I have tried my processor on 3 boards, p5wdh, p5b dlx and d975xbx with all hitting same stable wall @ 3915mhz. And here is the same on p5wdh. pretty close to 4G.

It so does not suck when compared to a P5B ;) And I'm up for the 4g challenge when my water arrives :D

@Funky, what rev is that P5WDH?

ALl p5wdh out there are 1.02G. But the new 68M0xxxx ( serial no) onwards are clocking better than old ones. Its 68M0xxxx/69M0xxxx/69AM0xxxx which are easily hitting 450+ FSB. The one i have is the latest 69AM0AG series.

Hey guys. one of my friends also wants to buy a C2D proc and mobo from US.

His budget is 600$ in all.

Can you suggest what would be the best combo?

Newegg is the best site in US to buy proc/mobo - rite?

Unless hes a PC Freak, who loves OC'ing, which ill assume he isnt, dont get a 680i Board, not right now atleast.

Rather get a P5B Deluxe or P5W-DH.... Abit AW9-D Max...

ya. u r right

he will not overclock atall

instead a features rich mobo will be much better
