I am Using XP Codec Pack And Still Some of My DVD Are not Playing On Desktop .I Have Old Version ,Can You suggest Some Please .

Then use its Media Player Classic

But u may also need to set this 1st (after install):

Start menu --> combinedccp --->filters->ffdshow video configuration->Rite Clik on libavocdec-->set all stable formats to libvacodec

It will RUN Evrything... u can further add Fast Codecs like CoreAVC to it to improve performance of HD movies.
 
Use CCCP as suggested above.
Make sure to uninstall any codec packs you have currently before you install this.

+1.. And SMplayer is much better than VLC. It used much superior quality codecs.
 
^^Yep .. Smplayer is the way to go.. Being a QT fronted it has always served my purpose.. From pathetic rm to mkv is play all the media I throw at it :)

Have been using as my main player in KDE and now in Gnome too :D
 
I use ffdshow, its freeware and contains all the codecs you'll ever need.

It also has a slick interface to enable or disable the Audio/Video codecs you need.

It also works seamlessly with Directshow, allowing you to choose the applications you want ffdshow to be compatible with.

I'd also recommend a small app called "GSpot Codec Appliance".

If you're unable to play any media file, use GSpot to provide you the codec information. Then simply go to ffdshow and enable that codec.

Give both a try.
 
Yea.. ffdshow is good too! Rest all codec packs just install crap on your PC. I say either SMPlayer or ffdshow + AC3Decoder + Haali Media Splitter.
 
KMPlayer rocks. But it is not a standalone player for all file types. It wouldn't play rm files on my system till I installed K-lite on my machine.
 
I have a video which nothing seems to play - tried ffdshow, K-Lite and CCCP - none of these play this file. MS Mediaplayer 11 plays sound and shows video with lots of dropped frames and jerks. Also tried MPC VLC GOM KMPlayer UltraPlayer. I use a Audigy 2 sound card and a Palit 4670 GFX card.

Would appreciate any help in getting this file to play on my setup.
 
.ts is a interlaced video.Unless your system is really powerful there will be lots of dropped frames and jerky video playback.Try coreavc.

KMPlayer shows only Video - NO AUDIO (its the only player which shows video of this file) I am using v 2.9.3.1428. Maybe I should try starting file simultaneously with KMPlayer and MPlayer 11 and watch with KMPlayer and listen with MPlayer :ohyeah:

@smoky004 ... I have some other HD Movies in TS format and they play absolutely fine - I already have CoreAVC Pro v1.8.0.0 installed :(
