i need the best 17 inch flat CRt in the market .. no compromise only the best.
i was thinking about going to 19'' but i think since i have a 6800uand wont change it for next 2 years with 19'' it will be tuff to play games than 17'' so have 2 settle for 17''.
but i need 17'' i repeat the best one which beats atleast the laptop lcd's :P

I have used 3 17" monitors and seen several in action.

As far as colour reproduction and saturation goes philips 107 C6 stands out.

I am using that one myself. One of the best i have used. Its stunning 17" monitor.

The other one i would recommend is viewsonic G70f or G70fb( both are same, FB is black and F is white) if you can find it.

The advantage pf philips 107c6 is that it has antiglare and antireflection polarizer coating on the screen and high contrast compared to other monitors i have used.

Yeah get the G70f or G70fb.
Here is the Link for the same G70f and G70fb .
I have the Viewsonic E70f+sb and it has a very good colour reproduction.

People are always wanting the best - truth is there is no *best* :) There are quality products and ones you should stay away from. And then there are the overly expensive ones for people who can splurge.

Pal get a 19" inch and run it @ 1024*768.....you'll notice more detail on it than on a 17" because of the sheer size of the screen....Don't get a 17" cause you'll wanna upgrade it soon.... I run a 21" CRT @ 1280*1024 and a 19" @ the res I mentioned...no probs...

I strongly urge u against a 17" CRT

U want 19" go for the 997DF SS...I use it and its great...among the top ones no matter what anyone says...
Price should be 10~12K...I bought the monitor in May 2005, it was 15K then..

1024x768 on a 19" :-o ...... even in mine 17" i find 1024x768 too big even 1280x1024 seems little big ......

PS:- now its clear we can't agree on anything :))

if u have the budget , i would say go for the 19" .The difference in details gaming at higher resolutions on a 17 and 19 is pretty noticeable :)
