I by mistake bought a Samsung Series 5 40'' LCD for 56K(so money is stuck with the shop ). Now I want to change to a better 42'' display. I've the bill from King's Electronics(retailer chain in NaviMumbai).

I've shortlisted these two models :

Panasonic VIERA TH-P42G10D price quoted = Rs.69K (wait for 15 days or more:huh:) it should be cheaper according to me.

Panasonic VIERA TH-P42S10D price ~Rs.55K. (wait for 15 days or more)

The quote I got from King's for TH-P42G10D looks high to me as it should be around 5K cheaper. Also they don't have these models so I'll have to wait for 15days or so.

They are telling me to go for a 42'' LG / 46'' Samsung Series 5(~71K). But I still think that TH-P42G10D is a much much better display. I really need the advice of TE members :D for other good 42''-46'' LCD/Plasma's under 69K.

King's Electronics people have told me that Plasma has glare issue's and heats up a lot, is it really true. I don't mind the electricity bills as my typical usage scenarios are <=5hrs everyday.

Cheers.

well various number of g10 owners in the US forums are reporting that the G10 looses its black level after a few hundred hours of use,it becomes so worse that a el cheapo lcd monitor shows better blacks then the g10.
that aside the G10 ain't that good of a display particularly for SD content, panasonic plasma show more phosphor trailing then the competition.

yes what king electronics told u is somewhat correct plasma natively reflects more then even a glossy screen lcd.it does heat up more then a lcd, usually when displaying large amount of whites at the same instant power consumption also increases.

Thanks for the info adder, all this info on Panny plasma is a Big surprise for me. Looks like I'll go for a LCD but which one?? Any suggestions.

@Adder - where did you read this? A cousin has the PG10D, had it for about 3-4 months, heavy usage. No issues. @Aman - I'd still recommend the PG10D. The Sony LCDs have had issues with clouding and backlight uniformity, as have some Samsungs.

I by mistake bought a Samsung Series 5 40'' LCD .

Can u plz explain this? How come the purchase was a mistake? Really would like to know if there is any inherent problem with it as myself is looking to get the same LCD.

Regards

So I concluded the following list :

Best VFM 42'' Display Panasonic G10 Plasma Rs.64-69K

Best VFM 42'' LCD(LED) - LG42H90QR (beats every other offerring with its loathsome features) Rs.69-74K

BEST VFM 42'' LCD Display LG 42''Scarlet 2.0 Rs.64K

Best VFM 40'' Display Samsung 40''550 Rs.56K

As far as I know the best 40'' LCD is Sammy550 and at a price of 56K it beats everything else.. But 40'' size was small as my viewing distance is around 6-7ft. There's no problem with it I just wanted more VFM product that can only be achieved with a Panny PLASMA.

To my astonishment once again my dad went to the shop(while I was giving my exam :ashamed:) and purchased Sammy 46''550 :P for Rs.76K. Looks like my father is a Samsung fanboy. Any ideas how to get a upgrade on warranty.

I'm using the LCD right now and I've adjusted the color to my taste coolest temperature and least back-lit(-> more natural) there's something weird about it(in a +ve sense) the more far I go away from it the colors appear more vivid. So it'll be even more efficient from the rated specs :hap2:.

One bad thing about Sammy's LCD's is the speaker quality, LG's audio quality was mindblowing compared to it,(tested Using Beethovens Sumph.9 Piece4 + some Lilly Allen + Andre Nikatana) audio is definitely good for watching news and sports.

But the display is simply amazing. COD MW2 rocks on it . BD rips are really looking hot.

If I was free this story would've been even better.

Thanks for everyone's help.
