Best Free Cloning Software.

Hi,
I need some help here. I need some kinda cloning software.

OK this is what I have:
1. 60gb Mushkin SSD with the OS, PageFile, Office, Adobe Suite, My Docs, and ofcourse a Bootloader (Daz.)
2. New 120gb Kingston SSD.

Before this I would have formatted the new drive and gone for a clean installation (I might still do this actually :) )

But now i would like to save more than anything else "TIME", and ofcourse my Docs, Favourites, saved passwords etc etc and even Origin as we know how finiky it really is..... Is there any software which is simple and easy and I can simply clone everything from the 60gb to the 120gb one.

Any walk thrus or anything...Or do you guys recommend me to do a fresh install itself, I really dont mind doing that either to clean out they system but I dont feel it is very messy in the first place so I dont mind a clone.

Please suggest some guys....
Thanks a lot.

You can do it, here is my method (may be time consuming, if impatience or lack of available resource then wait for other members to post)

First install Norton ghost --> Perform a full backup of the 60GB SSD --> restore the backup to the 120GB SSD

^ i dont think norton ghost is free.

i cant recall any free softwares as i havent used them.

i have however cloned using acronis true image. it is quite easy, straight forward and much better than norton ghost imo.

again this is not free.

if there is a good free software i too would like to know.

@stormblast , yeah its not free, but for one time use, OP can use the trial version. Its just matter of a few hours :)

Yeah I dont mind any trial versions...

I have never liked anything from Norton so would like to stay away....

I have heard good things about "acronis true image", it comes free with the SSd as well, just that I didn't opt for that one...

They have a 30 day free trial, which I don't mind trying, if it gives full functionality...

How is the HD clone...does it clone even Bootloaders etc?

I didn't even notice he had posted a link...Thank you.

Think m gonna give that HDclone Trial version a shot, though its slow, 1GB/Min is fast enough for me I only have about 30GB of data on the image file so shouldn't take too long...

I really dont mind formatting either will clean out the little issues as well, but my thinking this time around is "If it ain't broke, why fix it."

From the bootloader it seems you are using Windows 7, you use imagex part to WAIK to clone to your other drive and then apply it

What is ImageX?

imagex /capture image_path image_file "name" {"description"} {/boot | /check | /compress [type] | /config | /flags "EditionID" | /norpfix | /scroll | /verify}

imagex /apply image_file image_number image_name image_path {/check | /ref | /scroll | /verify}

Examples:-

imagex /capture d: d:\imaging\data.wim "Drive D" /verify
imagex /compress fast /flags "Ultimate" /check /scroll /capture c: d:\install.wim "Windows Vista Ultimate"

imagex /apply d:\imaging\data.wim 1 d:\New_Directory /verify

^^ You serious...?

That i have to do all that to copy the boot loader...???

Can't I just install the boot loader again or soemthing?

If you are using Win7, which come with backup and restore. This worked out GREAT to me. Just Create System Image on External HDD and restore on new HDD

^^ Dude you guys are making me more confused...

I just want something which is simple and does the need...else I will just do a fresh install...

^ :)

They are talking about the inbuilt backup option in Windows 7 which is easier than any of the 3rd party software. It comes with a wizard and is very easy to configure. To start, just type "Backup" after pressing Windows key to go to Backup and Restore. With 30GB, it shouldn't take more than an hour or so. You will be guided at each step.

Sei: ok I will try that...

HDClone was an utter FAIL.

Copied everything and when I swapped the drivers got a Bootldr error!!! So it was no good for me...
