Best Headphone for £200

Udit

Guide
My sister stays in London & wants to give me a £200 (if needed from UK) or $400 (if needed from USA) gift & only headphones are priced good in UK so which one should I buy

also suggest a headphone amp for $480 max

do not suggest PC upgrades as I have kept $2400 with me for that

P.S. She will buy the Headphones now & send me soon but I cannot buy a headphone amp before February 2009 so can I use it on a Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1 Sound Card till then?

dont go for Reference headphones when you dont have to make or mix music.those you listed are awesome for that purpose giving a FLAT response.

get Sennheisers Consumer series or Sony HD series headphones

go for SENNHEISER HD650 they retail at nearly 500$ in newegg.

HD650has unmatched audio reproduction and delivers deep bass.

You have to buy an amplifier to get the best quality out of it

hip hop, pop, blues, trance, romantic & a little rock

main needs are movies, games & very high comfort
Then chuck the Beyers and AKGs rightaway, as nish_higher said they are designed for a flat response.

The 650s are you best bet, since you don't mind amplifying them also!

noo..this amp---

S/N ratio > 96dB unweighted ref. full output
> 108dB "A" weighted ref. full output
Frequency response 30Hz to 75kHz < ± 1.0dB
the headphones--
10 - 39,500 Hz (-10dB)
good for rock music..in hip hop the bass would feel underpowered

The AKG K702 came out a few days back and should be available online very soon if not already..~$450 - 500... The K701 might get a little cheaper and possibly be phased out so look for them too. There are quite a few used ones getting sold off for some $200-ish.
