Iam hoping to buy a laptop from abroad. My budget is 1000$.

Iam sure lot of you guys are aware of the international market and will be able to suggest the best. In you I trust :). Help me please.

A decent graphic card is a must with the usual wi-fi etc etc...A decent battery life would help...

Iam not gng to game on the lappy much but yes would love to play fifa, tennis, CSS and some strategy games. 14" or 15" will be ideal.

Thanks guys...

Thanks for bringing this to life AMD4life :)

But I need a eternal card...

I can push it up to 1300$ I guess... I config the Dell XP1210 for 1558$ with the Geforce 7400Go and 12.1" screen...nice..but is there a similar deal for a bit lesser...

onboard will not do...I would be running all kinds of things...Maya, XSI, Delphi, VS.net and a bit of good sports and strategy gaming

I find the Dell Inspiron E1505 as the best config for a $1000 budget in the US currently. Ofcourse after using the 20% off coupons. You can fit in a Core 2 Duo T5500, 2GB RAM, ATi Mobility X1400 256MB (Hypermemory) Graphics along with the usual 15.4" WXGA display, DVD RW and 80GB HDD. Vista Home Premium with its Aero support comes as a icing on the cake too. What else could you ask for $1000-1050?

^^ Ithought u said 14"-15"ers in the first post :P

Alternatively: If its more convenient for you to buy from India only, then this particular model [http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/in/e...16665-1116665-1116665-12724394-78049781.html] is expected to be available within a week for approx 64K (Know it cos' had been searching for this & got this approx quote from an auth. dealer today)

Hey guys...Dell lappys cost the same in India and US....So theres no point getting someone to carry one from abroad right????.

Is there no lappy (14" or 15") with a better graphic card than
X1400 or 7400. something better.

Iam not even looking at 17"... even 15" looks a bit big but I can manage if its reasonably priced with a better graphic card. Can stretch upto 1500$ if the thing is worth it.

2-year limited global hardware warranty

1-year battery pack warranty

I dnt think this model is available in India...So will global warranty help here...

They are pretty genuine. I have seen many people on forums getting their laptops from them. Ofcourse you can never be sure, but they do seem genuine ASUS resellers. One of their reviews posted on NR showed their entire office of sorts. Check it here - Asus G2 Notebook Review

You can get it from Proportable.com too. Here is their product page for ASUS G1. Also it has better ratings from PROPortable Customer Ratings, Reviews and Prices at ResellerRatings

ASUS doesn't really have much of a presence in the US market for notebooks so there are these huge truck load of online resellers. So their websites are not professional enough. Newegg and others also offer the G1 at the said price from time to time.

^^Thanx for those links mate..That basically settles it that the sites mentioned by you are genuine..

Its just that the no. of scam sites are rising everyday and when dealing with a site not so reputed, its always better to be safe/sure than sorry.. :)

No offence was meant for you and I hope none taken. ;)
