Have you noticed a significant drop in component quality past few years, esp on mobos?
Maybe you should check out old and new stuff side by side from the same manufacturer.
And it's applicable everywhere.
TalKing about decade old stuff is pointless anyways.
My 20yr old Godrej fridge still runs whisper quite without a single service till date- touchwood- and all other new ones i have seen grunt like starving pigs- as if some megawatt generator turned on.

You "intended" to run it for 8-10 yrs maybe!! :rofl:
These days even manufacturers know not many intend to use their stuff beyond 3yrs at the most whereas it used to be 5-7 years earlier.
If it dies before warranty period and if you get a new one, then good for you.
Cos they know, for most regular peeps- "won't die = won't buy"- new h/w i.e.

Ain't everyone compromising on quality these days in the name of optimisation??
