Hi Guys,
I need some help from you guys. I am looking for a P4 Processor to OC. :right: Now i know that sounds a little strange, but then humour me.

I have a choice of 4 processors
The P4 521 at 2.8G
The P4 531 at 3.0G
The P4 541 at 3.2G
and the P4 630 at 3.0 GHz with 2 MB l2 and Intel Speedstep

I have looked around and have not be able to get any conclusive data on which processor. The stepping etc is still distant. i can't even get a fix on the processor number. Any pro's or con's etc. No other processor as these are the only ones available in mumbai.

The Board i already have the Asus P5LD2 and i think i will only get 533 Mhz DDR2 -

If any of you guys have any recommedation or links..please forward ASAP.

And yes..i know the AMD rocks..but this is a part of an experinment. So help me guys.

wow no response :D check out some forums like eocf where they have dediated intel sections..

but i think i read someplace that the 630 is a good oc'er

Yeah P4 630 chips are supposed to be decent ones for oc'ing. BTW i hope u have water cooling or better still a cascade :D.

holy crap, this forum really hates intel lol

in the 5 series try to look out for E0 steppings, they oc the best

for 6xx.....hmm not sure....ill check

Donno abt others , i hate intel a lot.
feel like smashing ppl getting Intel.

just today had a fight with a guy , he was like feeling on top of the world as he just got a 915G + 3Ghz Intel.

I told him i am getting a AMD 3000+ Venice and he says AMD has heating prob.
Was about to kill him but somehow my frnds controlled me.

[funny incident na , but i hate intel and ppl getting that shitty presshott]

[Peace]

lol.....i agree, saying the AMD has heating problems is not true...more like other way around :D
But no reason to hate intel...both company's have pros + cons over each other

hmmm...the celly D 240 or 420 or whateva..2.4GHz pieces rocked...but S478 :(

darky took them to 3.96GHz on stock cooling :O 3.92 stable :D

lol...incidentally. prechotttt celly D and P4 2.4 were awesome ocers...the P4 2.4 preschottts touched 3.5GHz

and quady, its 3.92 :P not 2.92 :bleh:

ok sunny , thanks for correcting me.
It was just a typo error , i read it 3.92 only but u know na now used to AMD
overclocks so my fingers slipped from 3 to 2

Corrected my previous post.

yup, celly 2.4 D s an amazing proccy, oced mine to 3.4, i am sure it wud go further, but my mobo is holding me back without any volt options :(

yup, me too hate prescotts, though i own one, and mine seems to run comparitvly cooler than others, full load temps in summer go to 62 C ??? :S was the first person to get a 2.8 E proccy, so didnt know about this heating prob of prescotts :(

tried ocing it, but wudnt go beyond 3.2 gigz, and not even stable at that settings, so for ocing P4s, u need a good mobo with lots of options, like the DFi

This solved my problem. I think i am going the 630 route. costs 3000K extra then the 531, but for OC. will do that.

It should be a good fight with my venice 3000 running at 2.72, the only problem is that i will need another 7800GTX..for a side by side comparision.

Now..if i have two of 7800GTx..does that make it an SLI ...i wonder..
somebody asked me to go for the 10K score on 3DMarks 05.. ..anyway..since i am off to Goa for the next week..will only get moving on it..next week. :-(

Naa not DFI. DFI P4 boards are hopeless. Its asus thats the king of P4 overclocking. They are miles ahead of anyone else.

not really.....

the two best asus P4 boards for socket 478 have MAJOR vcore droop....i mean its ireallly really really bad... that includes the P4C + P4P...so these boards usually always have to be modded if you want to OC

Imo unmodded the Abit IC7-G or my DFI board, is much bettter....

My DFI board the "rev. b" is extremely rare...and imo the best 478 board

As for 775, Asus is now leading with the most stable solutions....

DFI does have a good 925 board, but nothing in 945 or 955 yet :(

kev, thanks for your help. you mentioned a couple of forums where intel overclockers exist. can you put in the urls. a collection would be nice.
Many thanks again.
