I am looking to upgrade from my Moto G (1st Gen) which is showing its age now!
I would like the phone to have good support in Dev community (as I keep changing ROMs every 2-3 weeks), good processing power(especially GPU) and enough storage for holding my media (about 15GB).
If rooting doesn't void Warranty( like OP, or Mi) it would be a big plus. But I am ok if it isn't as I generally root phone and start flashing after 6 months of usage.
Questions:-
1. Budget?
A: INR 20k-25k
2. Preferred display size, type and resolution?
A: 4.7"-5.7", FHD and above
3. Preferred operating system? (Android (with version), iOS, Windows Phone etc).
A: Android Lollipop (5.0) and above (Upgradeable to 6.0)
4. Preferred connectivity options? (4G, 3G, 2G etc).
A: 4G would be an added advantage and future proof.
5. Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them.
A: No preference. Should have good service network for sure. Against Samsung - the phones i tried never worked beyond 14months and were always replaced!
6. What is your intended use for this phone (internet, camera, multimedia, mails etc.)?
A: Camera, Mails, Internet, Gaming, App. Development testing.
7. Single SIM/ Dual SIM?
A: No preference
8. New or Used? Online or Offline?
A: New. Online only
9. Any other requirements?
A: 3GB RAM atleast. Need good battery backup, microSD card slot if internal storage < 32GB. Should be good for coming 2 years (till 2017)!
10. If you have already considered a phone, then please mention the model
A: One Plus Two(64GB), Moto X gen 2, Zenphone 2 Deluxe, Xperia Z2, Nexus 6 (Looking for a deal around 25K). Open to any model which can meet my requirements. Was about to buy OP2, but issues faced by my colleagues and bad service reputation questioned its longevity. If no good option, will consider that (in tomorrow's Open Sale)
