Previously bought battery from Amazon but with lower battery life and span. Not sure if it was even an original samsung battery and even how old it already was.

For things like batteries, it's better to buy from authorised service centres.

Samsung service center is the best place like @Heisen said.
But they will do the service themselves. Better them but at a incremental cost.

Long back when I had Samsung note 8, the battery backup was barely 4 hours with light usage. When i inquired in service center they said I had to change the back panel since the glass was shattered without panel change they wont replace me a battery. So, I got batteries from various places including Amazon. Every one of them was bad. They all went back in 2-3 months usage. I recommend shelling out extra and get done at the service center.
